Dear CSC family and Family of the Moffett’s,

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Derek Moffett, beloved husband, father, and treasured community member. Born on October 21, 1968, Mr. Moffett departed from this life on June 10, 2024.

Last week we received some terrible news that someone near to our hearts was in a tragic auto accident. Derek Moffett and his mother Patricia lost their lives, and Life Flight took his daughters to a local Trauma center. Sadly, later last week his youngest child, Catherine, also lost her fight. I cannot imagine the grief and hardship brought by this news to his family. Please join me if moved to do so in pledging support or providing a memory for Laura and Alexandria:

Some of you knew Derek in a professional manner, as he was the dedicated tech support voice on the service team for close to 13 years. You would have likely heard him, numerous times, when calling into the shop, for that much-needed piece of advice. Maybe it was a program, control sequence, or that pesky graphic that just wouldn’t work! He made such an impact on our customers and co-workers alike. So much so, that even Tisha has a sign in her cube that reads “Derek #2”! He always seemed to be available regardless of what the customers were demanding.

However, if you are like many others, and myself you knew Derek on a much more personal level! He was Jimmy Neutron, a counselor, beer connoisseur, lunch buddy, but most important a friend. Take a minute, and read old correspondence, he really cared about each person he met. Over the years, we shared stories of his Bike races, and razzed each other about “right of way”! We have taken several trips to Boulevard brewery, where I must admit he converted me to IPA’s! What about the lunch trips to Olive café, eating as much falafel as we could shove down? Numerous ski trips to Colorado, struggling to sleep on those long “all-inclusive” shuttle rides. Countless hours talking about family in the office or CSC events!

Whether his family was out tubing on a boat, or taking a bike ride through prairie village, he was always laughing!

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Laura Moffett. Their bond was a picture of true love, illustrating their shared joy, mutual respect, and an enduring partnership. He will be profoundly missed by her.

His legacy is also carried on by his cherished daughter, Alexandria Moffett. He was a doting father, always nurturing her with his wisdom and kindness. His love and influence will continue to guide her throughout her life.

In this challenging time, the family appreciates the condolences and support extended by friends and community members. In lieu of flowers, a charity will be selected in Derek's memory. Story contributions, Photos, and condolences can be made at the following website: https://everloved.com/life-of…

The loss of Derek, Catherine, and Patricia is immeasurable, but so too is the love they left behind. Derek will be remembered for his warmth, generosity and the enduring love for his family. May he rest in peace.
