I’m so sorry for your loss. When I met Dennis he was already in poor health so I didn’t get to personally know him. However being a Southern Gospel Music fan I did do a little research to find out more about his ministry on the west coast. I’m thankful I have gotten to know some of you when visiting my niece and her family in Irvine. Will be praying for comfort as only God can give as you grieve the loss of your Husband, Father & Grandfather.

The "car" mentioned in the obituary was actually my 1932 Ford Pickup. It had been extensively modified with a 1953 Oldsmobile Engine, bored and stroked, Endlebrock camshaft, triple Holley carburetors, '39 Lincoln transmission, 4:11 Ford rear axle. It was quite simply a classic Hot Rod but I had my teenage eyes on a Corvette. So I placed an ad in Hot Rod magazine at the cost of $5 offering to trade my classic '32 Ford Hot Rod for a Corvette. I received a response from Michigan from Dennis who was relocating to California. We met and drove each others vehicles but never made the trade. In the process Dennis met our family, including Edlynn, and began attending the CMA church with us in Santa Rosa. And the rest of the story is told in the obituary. I like to think that $5 ad in Hot Rod magazine brought Dennis and our family together and was the beginning of the Zimmerman dynasty.

I first met Dennis in about 1970 when he and his family started attending Garden Grove Nazarene Church. In 1971 Dennis and my dad, Dick Moore, started The Watchmen Quartet. I joined the group in 1974 and over the next 17 years performed 772 concerts with Dennis in 11 states. Those were great times and the skills I learned during my time working with Dennis helped me when I started by own group in 1992. We've been singing for over 30 years now and without my Watchmen experience none of that would have been possible. I'll be forever grateful to Dennis for his dedication to gospel music and keeping the Watchmen going for 38 years.

Our community was so blessed by Dennis and the Watchmen . He was always a joy to talk to and his love for Jesus was so evident. Praying for all the Zimmermans.

DZ was one of my heroes and one of the finest men I have ever met. I see God's Hand of Mercy at work on Dennis' behalf. Edlynn, our prayers are with you in this time of grief/sadness.

I'm proud to have served with Dennis in the Watchmen Quartet for 18 years. He was larger than life to me and countless others. His leadership and fierce dedication to the message of the music made those years exceptional.

From 2004-2008, I experienced a highlight of my musical singing life as a singer with The Watchmen. I will NEVER forget the 4 years of traveling with the guys, meeting all the many pastors and their congregations, and other great quartets, and being blessed by them all, as we blessed them as well.
We recorded a few albums & a DVD and worshipped and praised together on the bus and on so many many stages. We even sang the National anthem and the Canadian anthems together in arenas!
Dennis was a fun and funny guy, caring, sharing, and a man of genuine integrity. I will always honor and respect him as a fellow singer and mentor and friend. And he definitely "married up," to a great woman in every way imaginable. My memories of him will live on forever, until I see him again someday. Thank you Dennis, you were here to be a blessing, and you certainly were. Gregg Lancer
