Dennis's obituary

Dennis Sterling Weber, 72, of Smithville, Texas passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2020, surrounded in love by his family. He was born in Cumberland, Maryland to John Frederick Weber, Jr. and Freda Grove Weber and preceded in death by them both. He attended Patapsco High School and graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Nancy Soltys Weber in March of 1973 and they moved to Houston, Texas to begin their life together. He worked as an engineer and manager in his career in the chemical industry until retirement, but his greatest accomplishments were at home.

Dennis was known for his kindness, faith, generosity of spirit, and many talents. He was an amazing artist, creating drawings, paintings, and furniture. He could carve wood into anything he wanted to make, and make it beautiful. He taught his friends to be woodcarvers, and to share in the joy of working in a sawdust-filled wood shop. He was an avid hunter who valued time in God’s creation with good friends and family.

Dennis was a devoted husband of 47 years to his best friend, Nancy Soltys Weber. He was a loving and supportive father to his children and their spouses: Scott Joseph Weber and wife Kate Weber and Jill Freda (Weber) Delgado and husband Stephen Delgado. He was a wonderful grandfather who shared wisdom and love with Anthony and Tessa Delgado and Alice and Luke Weber. He is also survived by his two brothers John F. Weber, III and wife Carol, Bill Weber and wife Sheila, sister Sharon Weber, and sister-in-law Susan Davidson and husband Willie.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of True Heart Hospice. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care in his last month was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.

Dennis wanted the family to have an informal outdoor celebration of his life with close friends and family when it is safe to do so in lieu of a traditional funeral. The family will provide a virtual option to attend.
