Dennis's obituary
Dennis Stodghill, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Monroe, GA on August 20, 2025. Born December 26, 1947, Dennis was a Vietnam war veteran. During his time stationed in Kentucky, he met his future wife, Joyce. They were married 55 years.
After his time in the Army, Dennis had a successful career with Bell South/AT&T retiring after more than 30 years service.
Dennis grew up along the coast of Georgia, where he developed a lifelong love for the water and fishing. He fished the Savannah River as a boy and later as an adult with his brother Mick and friends with the Coastal Bass Club where he was a member for over 20 years. He was also an Emeritus member of the Richard T. Turner No. 116 Grand Lodge of Georgia Free and Accepted Masons.
Dennis was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife Joyce, his sons Jeremy, Jeffrey, Russell (“Rusty”), daughter-in-law Misako, and grandson Gibson Stodghill. He is also survived by his sister Pamela Allen, brothers Michael (Mick) Stodghill and George Gay, along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and numerous friends.
Those who knew Dennis well remember him as a great story-teller, a comedian, a jack-of-all-trades who always seemed to know how to fix anything and a food lover, especially when it came to breakfast.
Dennis, or "Boosie" as his close friends and family knew him, will be remembered as a beloved father, brother, uncle, and grandfather, as well as a good friend to all.
Dennis passed away after a short battle with cancer surrounded by his wife, sister, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Stodghill, Elizabeth Gay, stepfather Curtis Gay, and brother Leslie Stodghill.
A memorial will be held at Delegal Marina Sunset Pavilion in Savannah, GA on Saturday September 6th at 6:00PM (1 Marina Dr, Savannah, GA 31411 ). All friends and family are welcome. Business casual attire is recommended but not required.
