Dennis's obituary
Dennis Sherman Stone, born November 10, 1946, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life defined by devotion, hard work, and a deep willingness to serve others—all for the glory of God—leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. As reflected in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
Dennis was the beloved husband of Sharon Rebecca Stone, with whom he shared a loving marriage since May 29, 1969. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and enduring commitment.
He was a proud father to his son, Eric Stone and his wife Monica, and his daughter, Christy Stone and her husband James. Dennis found great joy in watching his family grow across generations.
He was a cherished grandfather to Michael and Megan Powers; Stanton and Kara Floyd; Gage, Christina and Brenden Stone. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Evelynn, Elliott, Eleanor, Esther, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Kelly Kylin, and Kinsley, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
Dennis worked for AT&T, where he spent many years doing what he loved—working outdoors and with his hands. He had a natural gift for fixing, building, and creating, and he took pride in every task he undertook.
Outside of work, Dennis loved camping and riding ATVs, finding peace and joy in the outdoors. He was known for his generous spirit and servant’s heart. There was never a time he wasn’t willing to lend a hand—whether it was helping a neighbor, working on his church, or supporting anyone in need. He gave freely of his time and energy, and his kindness touched countless lives.
Dennis was often regarded as stubborn, but that same steadfast nature was the foundation of his determination. He was determined in his faith, in his love for the Lord, and in his devotion to his family and community. Everything he did reflected a life lived with purpose and conviction.
Dennis will be remembered for his steady presence, his strong work ethic, and his unwavering love for his family and community. His life was a testament to faith, service, resilience, and unconditional love.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
