I was getting ready to see him with my kids when I heard the news of Dennis's passing. We had made one of his favorite jello’s and had his favorite coffee from Starbucks. Just way too soon, my friend, we had so much more to catch up on. I didn’t get to say all the things I wanted. Love and miss you dearly. Thinking of you on this day especially. Can’t believe it’s been one year already. I miss hearing your voice in the morning when I’d call just before 8a to say good morning. It was a quick but always joyful call. I miss your joy so much. But now you are in heaven, the best place ever, and I wouldn’t want you anywhere else. Heaven sure got one of the greatest on earth. 🍻🤍🕊️

What are the day-to-day things that remind me of Dennis? Hawaiian shirts, a big smile, shot of bourbon, rare steaks - I mean barely cooked, and most of all, his positive attitude.

Bert's recent memory says it all - Den was eternally positive. His happiness was infectious; if you were down, he was determined to cheer you up. I think I can count, on one hand, the times that he needed cheering up. It's a Wonderful Life was his favorite movie and Den was a lot like George, he powerfully affected us all. Last Christmas season, he wanted to go to the Penn Theater in Plymouth to see his favorite movie, so we went! Unfortunately, the line was all the way down the block and it was COLD, so we changed plans and decided to watch it in the comfort of his living room. We had a wonderful night enjoying the movie and talking. I miss you deeply, Den, we all do. Merry Christmas!

I visited Dennis with three friends, Mark, Rob and Fred the day before he transitioned. He was positive as usual, no complaints, and talked about his plans for his celebration of life party. I played a few videos of Ryan broadcasting a MSU hockey for Mark, Rob & Fred, and Dennis' smile glowed, he is so proud of Natalie and Ryan. At the end of the visit we talked about getting together in a couple days, hugged, and I told him I loved him. Merry Christmas Bro!

Thinking of you on your Birthday Radz!
It was a beautiful fall Sunday in 1981. Bert and I had just bought our first house and planned to make a great dinner for my parents-first ever. Bert left early that morning -to play in his grown man touch football league-and would be home in plenty of time to help me cook. It was mid afternoon, still no Bert and I definitely couldn't cook cornish hens myself. At 3:00 in the afternoon Radz just randomly showed up at the door-in town from his latest adventure-and saw how distressed!! I was. Well, he stayed and taught me how to make the BEST cornish hens ever. (The secret was heavy paprika all over the bird). The guy could really cook even at a young age AND he saved his buddy Bert that day (who we found later at Oak Cafe-his team sponsor :) Miss you Radz!!

My craziest memory was being with Dennis and Rachelle at Chris Kaleb's parents' house. Den and Chris were planning this GIANT party. They were going to rent a mechanical bull. We were over there partying and climbing through basement ductwork, as I recall. It was a tad insane. I think the party was supposed to be the next night, but neighbors called Chris's parents. Game over!

Being friends with Dennis for over 50 years there are many good memories but one of my favorites memories is when we went to see ELO a few years ago. I told Dennis we were going and asked if he want to go. He didn't hesitate and said yes. My wife and I bought ours tickets for about $250 each when they went on sale but Dennis didn't have a ticket. No worries he says even though it was nearly sold out at the time. The night of the concert he shows up for dinner, we walk to LCA for the concert and he says he will show me how to get good tickets. He finds two ladies who had two tickets they wanted to sell but were not to outwardly selling them. Dennis approaches them and after some chit chat he buys both for $120, sells one to a guy that agrees to buy him drinks. What a deal, but that's not all. Since he has a knee brace on, he goes to customer service and for something like $20 bucks he trades in his ticket and gets one first bowl center where he can stretch his legs out. Great talker and negotiator! The concert was great and the Mr. Blue Sky nickname was earned!!!!
