Dennis's obituary
Dennis Michael Patrick, 73, of Perrinton, MI, passed away on August 25, 2023.
Born on June 25, 1950, in Carson City, MI, Dennis was the fifth of eight children born to Joseph and Agnes Patrick. Dennis often spoke of growing up on the farm with his family, helping with the mink and crop farm operations. Life on the farm was busy and instilled in him a strong work ethic and love of family.
Dennis is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Leslie, and his two sons Michael (Jackie) and Adam (Courtney). He was also a proud grandfather to George, Thomas, and Michael and Jackie’s son who will enter the world in February. In addition, he is survived by his seven brothers and sisters, their spouses, and their many children and grandchildren.
Dennis served his country in the Army, landing in Vietnam on his 21st birthday, where he demonstrated unwavering dedication and loyalty. His associations with other veterans remained a significant part of his life, and he took great pride in his military service. He was an active member of the American Legion, serving on the Honor Guard and volunteering for the Buddy-to-Buddy program.
He received his early education at Carr School – a one-room schoolhouse – and Fulton High School. He furthered his studies at Ferris State University where he met Leslie, who became his loving wife, and later earned his Master of Science from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dennis was a Certified Industrial Hygienist and was a well-regarded professional within this field throughout his working career.
Dennis was an endlessly humorous, optimistic, and cheerful individual who brought joy to those around him. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, a cold beer, and a good Western. He went on many big game hunts and loved to share tales of his adventures.
Dennis truly cherished his family and did his best to share life lessons and meaningful moments with them – recently teaching his grandsons how to tie fishing flies and how to win a game of chess.
Dennis will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His positive spirit and love for his family, friends, and country will forever be remembered.
