Dennis's obituary

We regret to announce the passing of Dennis Ray Cavanaugh, who departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2025. He was 54 years old.

Dennis was born on July 7, 1971, radiating warmth, kindness, and a spirit of courage to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we mourn his untimely departure, we also celebrate the exemplary life he lived.

Dennis graduated from Killeen High School in Killeen, TX in 1989, kicking off a life full of great accomplishments. The greatest of these was undoubtedly being a devoted father to his two children; Nathaniel Cavanaugh and Katy Cavanaugh, who survive him. His love, guidance and presence will be deeply missed, yet his legacy will live on through them.

He was a man known for his bravery, easy-going nature, and good heart, traits that endeared him to every life he touched. One of his favorite sayings, "Nothing is promised tomorrow," served as a reminder to all to cherish each day and live it to the fullest. This saying was not only a lesson he shared but also a creed by which he lived.

In addition to his children, Dennis is survived by his siblings; Marie Allen Cavanaugh, Clinton Mashal Cavanaugh, and Sean Cavanaugh who will forever treasure the love and brotherhood they shared. They carry with them cherished memories that embody Dennis's spirit and warm-heartedness.

Dennis was predeceased by his beloved parents, Cyril Clinton Cavanaugh and Kay Cavanaugh and his siblings Billy Mace Cavanaugh (brother) and April Hoover (sister). The qualities of courage, warmth, and kindness that defined Dennis were certainly a reflection of the nurturing home from which he came.

A viewing to honor and remember Dennis's life is being held on November 5, 2025, at Serenity Funeral Home from 3 pm to 8pm. We hope to see you at the funeral service, starting  at 10:30 am, Thursday, November 6th to share your personal stories, tears, and laughter, as testament to the joy he brought into our lives.

As we bid farewell to Dennis, we will keep his memory alive in our hearts, cherishing the moments we shared and the lessons he imparted. His light continues to shine brightly among us, illuminating the path of courage, kindness, and love.
