Dennis's obituary
Dennis was born on January 19th, 1951 to Howard Rodney Caster and Marcia Helen (Reeves) in Cincinnati, Ohio. He grew up in Goshen, OH and graduated from Goshen High School in 1970. After graduation he moved to Florida for a few years before moving back north and settling in Michigan. Dennis started working at Steelcase in 1976, studied and graduated from Grand Rapids Community College in the early 1980's to become a tool & dye/ jig and fixture maker and retired in 2000 at the age of 49 1/2, something he was always very proud of. After retiring, he spent a few years volunteering to help elderly veterans in the community with tasks such as driving them to appointments and VA Hospitals as well as helping out around their homes in any way he was able. He also volunteered his time to the American Legion, setting up and working for different events and even becoming a Squadron Commander at one point. Later in life, he enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter months to escape the cold and spend time with cousins but loved the summers spent at his home in Croton on the Muskegon River. He could normally be found tinkering around in the garage, working on home projects, enjoying time on the porch joking around with many friends or watching football, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Dennis was predeceased by his father, Howard, and mother, Marcia. He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Joy Caster, son-in-law, Corey Klaassen, grandson, C.J. "The Wild Man" Klaassen, sister, Linda Caster, as well as three nephews, one great nephew and many cousins scattered all over the country.
Dennis was a great friend to everyone he met and the most loving father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by so many, especially by his daughter, Joy.
There will be a Celebration of Life planned for Dennis next spring in 2023 at the Croton American Legion with details to follow later. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dennis Casters name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
