Dennis's obituary

Dennis Michael Applegate

12/30/1950 – 12/06/2022, 72 years

Dennis passed away peacefully at Stanford Hospital on 12/06/2022 after a long-enduring battle with cancer.

Dennis was born on December 30, 1950 in San Francisco, CA to Thomas J. Applegate and Thelma J. Lawrence. He met his wife, Judy Aguilera, in 1968 while attending Balboa High School. They dated and he left before graduating as a senior to join the Marines He returned, and married Judy in 1975. They lived in Daly City, South San Francisco, Hayward, San Bruno, before finally settling in Pacifica, Ca. In May of 1980, they welcomed their son, Sean. In 1981, they took over guardianship of their 3-year old nephew, Brandon Basas, whose mother, Sonia Basas, was Judy’s sister and passed in March of 1992. Prior to their sons, they were parents to two Llasa Apsos – Sugar and Bilbo. Just prior to Dennis’ passing, they adopted Fred, their rescue beagle, who brightened Dennis’ day.

Dennis’ favorite way to spend his time was to be surrounded by his family. He loved holidays and all the family gatherings and looked forward to spending time with everyone. There was nothing he wouldn’t do if it meant he could help you, and whatever was his was yours if you needed it. Even in his ailing state, he would always offer his help. He greeted every situation with amusement and humor. He enjoyed going to the movies, rock concerts and playing Bingo. Spending time with his granddaughters was a favorite and he always spoke with excitement knowing he would be spending time with them.

Everyone Dennis met, became a friend. He was genuine, loving, funny and forgiving soul who found

good in everything and everyone.

In-laws, nieces and nephews: Beckie & Steven Patane, Sylvia Martell and Ralph Martell.
