Denise's obituary

Denise Ogden Simons, 69, of Madison, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 8, 2022, after a decade-long battle with cancer.

Denise, also known as “Nesi” or “Sneeze” was born in Miami, Florida on January 17, 1953, and is the daughter of the late Jack and Verba Ogden. She was the youngest of five children, having two older brothers and two older sisters. Her family resided in Fort Myers, Florida.

Denise was 16 years old when she met, Dick. Their love for cars and drag racing is what brought them together and they fell in love. At the time, they were on two different paths and life pulled them in different directions. A decade had gone by before God brought them back into each other’s lives. She was married to the late Richard Wayne Simons for over 20 years. He was her best friend, soulmate, and the love of her life!

Denise and Dick had 2 children together, Ricky and Jamie. She also had two stepdaughters, Holly, and Robin, who she loved as her very own. In the early 80’s they moved to Rutledge, Georgia where they raised their family. Her children were her greatest love of all!

Denise was a member of Rutledge Baptist Church. She loved fast cars, especially Corvettes, and was in the Corvette Club. She had a love for music and always wanted to learn to play the guitar. She had a passion for cooking and always said, the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. She loved all animals, but dogs had a special place in her heart.

Denise’s highest devotion were her children and granddaughter; she was the loving mom of Ricky Simons, and Jamie Simons and loving stepmom of Holly Thurston and Robin Gannon. Cherished grandma to Kaci Lane Vandiver.

Denise is preceded in death by her brother Val Ogden; and Sisters Judy Eitneier and Joan Jackson.

Denise will be desperately missed by all those that she’s left behind. Even though our hearts are hurting, we can rejoice knowing, she is no longer suffering and is having the reunion of a lifetime in Heaven. She was the strongest and most courageous woman, we knew. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.

Memorial Service for Denise Simons will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 6 pm at A.E Carter Funeral Home; located at 1670 Atlanta Hwy, Madison, Ga, 30650.

We invite you to join us after the Memorial Service, as we celebrate the life she lived to the fullest with food and drinks. Bring your precious stories & memories to share! It will be held at 164 East Main Street, Rutledge, Ga, 30663.
