Demarcus LaTauris Avery, 25, was killed when the 2016 Nissan Altima he was a passenger in left Alabama Highway 14, struck a ditch and overturned. Avery was ejected from the car and pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Altima, JaJuan Martez Hudson, 24, was ejected and taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. State Troopers say neither of the occupants of the Altima wore seat belts. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to troopers who are still investigating the accident. The crash occurred at 8:45 p.m. on Alabama Highway 14 near the 41 mile marker, about four miles northwest of Eutaw.
