Delores's obituary
Delores Acker, affectionately known as "Dee", passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Kirkhaven Senior Living Center in Rochester, NY.
Delores' journey began in Trinidad, where she was born to Rita and Lawerance Martin on February 6, 1948. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and lived a life of love. Delores graduated from Malick Girls R.C. School, completed high school at St. Francis College, and later attended Bailey's Commercial School in Trinidad, where she studied Business.
In 1985, Delores immigrated to the United States to provide a better life for her family, sacrificing her own dreams to work tirelessly for their development. She retired in 2010 after 25 years of working in the service of others as a housekeeping coordinator and home health aide nurse. She also owned a professional cleaning business.
Dee's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She consistently gave honor and praise to God, embodying the words of Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Delores was a cherished member of the Martin family, sister to Norma Campbell, Merlin Nelson, and Kenneth Martin. She married her beloved Frankie Claude Acker (deceased), marking the beginning of a shared life filled with love and devotion.
Dee's love extended to her eight children: Ashton Acker, Anton Acker, Rodney Acker, Stacey Acker (Corrine), Lorraine Acker (Donna), Candace Gardner (Keisha), Roxanne Acker (deceased), and Wendell Acker (deceased). She is remembered as a nurturing soul, always ready with a comforting word and an encouraging story. Her twelve grandchildren, Kaylan, Bree, Blake, Skylar, Fenix, Alexie, Joshua, Shania, Ameer, Mylz, Kayla, and Shantel, and her three great-grandchildren, Dakota, Sade, and Kairo, will carry her legacy of kindness and joy.
Dee's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her children, grandchildren, and siblings.
