Delmar's obituary

On March 29, 2020 Delmar (Del) A. Blanton a loving husband and father passed away at the age of 92, peacefully at his home in Palm Bay, Fl.

Delmar was born December 15, 1927 in Fort Pierce, Fl. to Burton and Mamie Blanton. He had two siblings, sister Amy Louise Ammons of Okeechobee, Fl. and brother Edward L. Blanton of Ft. Pierce, Fl.

He served in the Korean War. After his return home from the war he met and married his wife of 55 years Barbara (Bobbie) Jean Selph. They raised two daughters Debra Ann and Michelle Lee. They lived in Fort Pierce where Del ran the St. Lucy County Auto Inspection Station till it closed. He also worked for the St. Lucy County Mosquitoe Control, and the Purchasing Department for the County. Del later went on to work for Sears in their Loss Prevention Department in Ft. Pierce and then in Palm Bay, Fl. until he retired.

Del was a long time resident of Fort Pierce, Fl until 1996 when he and Barbara moved to Palm Bay, Fl. Where he has lived the past 24 years.

Del was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended West Side Baptist Church in Ft. Pierce until his move to Palm Bay, Fl.

Del was preceded in death by his father, Burton, his mother, Mamie , his sister Amy Louise, and his wife Barbara. He is survived by his children Debra Ann (Debbie) Martin, her husband Timothy D Martin of Waynesboro Tn. and their two son’s Shane Adam Martin of Palm Bay, Fl. and Dylan Thomas Martin of Palm Bay, Fl., his Daughter Michelle Lee Blanton of Merritt Island, Fl and her son Keelan Delmar Esquivel of Jacksonville, Fl., his Daughter Nancy Sue Tatman (Rob) of Silvis, Il., and his brother Edward L Blanton and his wife Leo Blanton of Ft. Pierce, Fl., and several cousins, nieces, and a nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on April 6, 2020 at 12:00pm, at Atlantic Mortuary, 117 Barton Avenue, Rockledge. Pastor Frank Ellis will perform the eulogy
Interment will follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery
