Della's obituary

Della Hatfield

January 23, 1931- July 15, 2024

Della Mae Hatfield, 93, of Pharr, Texas was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on July

15, 2024. Della was born on January 23, 1931 to Robert and Margery (Hana) McLeod in

Marble Hill, Missouri. In 1950, she moved to LaPorte, Indiana where she married and spent

many years as a home maker, raising her three sons. In 1968, she earned a Bachelor’s

degree in education from Valparaiso University and went on to receive her Master’s degree

in 1971. After twenty-seven years of teaching at South Central Elementary School in Union

Mills, Indiana, she retired in 1995. She married David Hatfield of Muncie, Indiana on July

21, 1980 and was happily married for 44 years. Together they resided in Pharr, Texas for 23

years and regularly attended church at Pentecostals of Weslaco.

Della is preceded in death by her parents, step-father, one infant brother, sisters Mary

Olson (McLeod) and Alice Jane Machler (McLeod), and son, Daniel Wright.

Della is survived by her husband David Hatfield, sons Michael Wright, Darryl (Michelle)

Wright, five grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A devoted, lifelong Christian, Della loved purely and unconditionally. She touched the lives

of generations and to know her, was to love her. She will be deeply missed.

“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to

prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and

receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know,

and the way you know... I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father

except through Me.”

There is no doubt Della heard Jesus say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Your

mansion is ready.”
