De's obituary

Deirdre Marie (Carsus) Drapeau, known to all who loved her as De, passed away unexpectedly on December 9, 2025, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, surrounded by her family.

Deirdre was born on October 26, 1963, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of J. Kenneth Carsus and Barbara (Listewnik) Carsus. She was a proud graduate of South High Community School in Worcester.

On September 7, 1985, De married Mark Drapeau. Together they built a life, first in Cherry Valley, Massachusetts, before settling in Saint Albans, Maine. De devoted more than 20 years of her professional career to UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, where she worked as a cardiovascular IT technical analyst as well as an applications and systems analyst. After relocating to Maine, she continued her career at Sweetser, serving as a technical IS help desk specialist.

De is survived by her husband, Mark; her daughter, Leah; her sisters, Lisa and Kerith; and her brother, Jason. She also leaves behind her adored four-legged companions, Willow and Koni, as well as many nieces and nephews.

De found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments—kayaking on the lake with family and friends, relaxing on the deck with her dogs and a good book, savoring lobster dinners, and preparing memorable holiday meals that brought loved ones together. She will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts of those who loved her.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor De’s memory may make a donation to the charity of their choice or to a local animal shelter.
