It is with absolutely broken hearts, our family needs to share the following news. 

Our beloved Son, Declan Michael Kyler - passed away unexpectedly - the day after Christmas. 

Please forgive the delay of any social media posts or additional information, as we are still consumed by our grief & facing many unforeseen delays due to the Holidays - & are still in MN just trying to work through the logistics.

Declan had just proposed to his beloved fiance (Kora Tokach) in October. Excited to start their new lives together, they had recently picked out their wedding venue for a beautiful ceremony to be held in the fall of 2025.  While living in their apartment in Winona, MN - both Declan & Kora had just received incredible new job offers in Minneapolis about 2 hours North. 

Kora's mother (Marci) graciously offered to let them move in with her until they could get settled. So plans were put in place for them to move the 28th of December.  Sadly, Marci's husband & Kora's father (Wayne) had just passed away - also unexpectedly a few months prior. All were extremely close - so Declan had planned to spend the holidays with his MN family.  

Declan & Kora had spent a wonderful Christmas together - surrounded by the incredible Tokach family & friends. The video clips Kora sent showed Declan being Declan - playing holiday games - blindfolded & on decibel level 10 trying to scoop cotton 'snowballs' into a sand pail. 

No matter that there were children at the table, this was a serious competition in his eyes & he was losing - loudly :) 

The next morning started out wonderful, all were making plans for the day. Declan sat down on the couch with Kora to rub her feet & watch a bit of TV. When he suddenly stopped, Kora looked at him & knew immediately something was wrong when he was not responsive. She yelled for Marci who also tried to help, and 911 was called. 

Several attempts were made to try & revive Declan at the house, but they could not find a pulse. He was then rushed to the hospital by ambulance - where the hospital spent the next hour trying to revive him unsuccessfully. 

At the time, none of the hospital staff could pinpoint exactly what caused his death. All they could tell us was that his heart had stopped, and that further testing would likely give us more details.

While we are still waiting on some additional specifics - the cause of death given was likely due to an 'enlarged heart' ... 

As a family, we all find that pretty fitting ... 

Declan had the biggest one of all.

Every Christmas, Declan took great delight in finding the absolute perfect gift for people. 

True to his competitive nature, he would laugh in his goofy boasting way - to make us all reluctantly concede after opening gifts - that yes 🙄 he still held that title.

This year will be no exception ....

Declan was an organ donor,  and will be giving some family's loved one  - the gift of sight this Christmas. 

As a family - we could ask for no greater gift than our beloved son.
