Debra Lyn Meier died on September 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Sugar Land, Texas. She is proceeded in death by her father Jay Meier, mother Virginia Meier, and nephew Mason Koska. She is survived by her husband Gehrig Lynn Smith, daughter Erin Dale Meier, sister Kathryn Ann Meier, brother Lawrence Ray Meier and wife Beverly Meier, sister-in-law Roma Jones, aunt Barbara Mueller and cousin Michelle Fuller, along with nieces Morgan Meier and Mary Duecker, and nephew Michael Meier. Debbie was born October 26, 1955 in Van Nuys, California then quickly moved to Texas. There she grew up in the 70’s as a true hippie in Houston attending Westbury High School. She met the love of her life, Gehrig, in 1973 and they married in 1976 and again in 2006. Debbie achieved an associate degree and certification as an interior designer from San Jacinto College. She worked most of her life in the insurance industry providing for her daughter. As God may have it, she was blessed with a job as Office Coordinator for Christ United Methodist Church Sugar Land and worked there serving the church and congregation for 12 years. Her passions in life were the love for her family, hosting gatherings of friends, being around water at a beach or lake, and traveling the world as much as possible.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church Sugar Land on October 14, 2023, at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Houston Methodist Hospital J.C. Walter Jr. Transplant Center or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
