Debbie's obituary
Debra “Debbie” Joy Eckert passed away. September 16, 2022 in Sarasota, Florida, as the result of a tragic car accident. She was 68 years old. Debbie was born in Grand Forks, ND, on January 5, 1954, to Dolores and Duane Johnson. She graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks and later attended Aakers Business College. She began working for Brady Martz in 1982. In 2004 she started working for Bradoc in Grand Forks. On August 25, 1984, she married Darrell Eckert and they lived happily in East Grand Forks, MN. In 2000 Debbie and Darrell moved to Thief River Falls, MN. Shortly afterward Debbie began working for Sanford Hospital. She retired in 2020.
She grew up as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She developed a strong faith and deep love for Jehovah God. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 17, 1970, almost 52 years ago. Debbie looked forward to the hope of living forever on a paradise earth and loved sharing this hope with others, helping them appreciate the Bible as much as she did.
Debbie was a beautiful person both inside and out. She was kind, generous, forgiving, and had a great sense of humor. She made us all laugh and everyone who met her loved her dearly. She loved to travel and visit her friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Darrell Eckert; her daughter, Brandi Frederick of Portland, Oregon; her mother, Dolores Johnson of Grand Forks, ND; her sister, Joi (Jay) Roland of Thompson, ND; her brother, Mike (Darcy) Johnson of Enterprise, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
