Deborra's obituary
¬Deborra Ann Ruhs entered into the presence of her precious Lord and Savior, Jesus, on July 26, 2022, in Cleveland, TN. She was born on March 7, 1954 in Amarillo, Texas to David and Alice (Nelson) Henschel, the oldest of five children. Music and serving the Lord were a focus of their family life.
Deborra, known to most as Debi, graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1972. Debi was talented in administration, art, and music. She had worked at BBB Inc., Ben Franklin, Country Christian School, and Hugh Thompson’s State Farm Agency in administrative and financial services.
Debi married Robert Ruhs on September 21, 1974 and was married 40 years until Robert’s death in 2015. They lived in or near Oconomowoc most of their lives, retired to Nekoosa, WI, and Debi spent her last years in Cleveland TN, where she suffered from a debilitating stroke.
Debi’s passion was serving God. Early on, she and her mother, Alice Henschel, developed a children’s Bible curriculum, in which Debi did the artwork. For many years, Debi led Bible Studies and developed and taught workshops and programs on Deliverance and Inner Healing. The ministry, Restoration Ministries, developed alongside her mother Alice’s personal ministry. Debi also sang and played mandolin in a Christian music group called S.T.R.I.N.G.S. with her sisters and her husband. Later, she attended the Share-A-Prayer Word Theological School of Ministry and achieved her Bachelors of Ministry in May of 2005. She co-led a small church in Oconomowoc with her husband Robert. Debi was fascinated with ancient history and was working on a historical novel based in ancient writings and scripture.
Debi enjoyed her many friends who so appreciated her gentle and caring nature, her smile and easy laughter, and her thoughtful advice. She loved old movies, butterflies, and anything purple, blue and pink. She treasured family and will be greatly missed by those who loved her, including her daughter Tricia Ruhs (Charlie Hughes) of Nekoosa, WI, her sister Laurel Henschel of Cleveland, TN and brother Tom Henschel of Beaufort, SC, two grandsons, Tyler Klotz and Nathan Simmons, and many nieces and nephews , cousins and friends. She is welcomed into heaven by her parents, her husband Robert, sister Colleen, and brother Timothy.
A memorial service for Debi will be held on September 24, 2022 from 2-4 pm at the Watertown Senior Citizens Center, 514 S First St, Watertown, WI.
