It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Deborah Shorter. Born on August 24, 1955, she departed from this world on October 24, 2024. Her radiant spirit and unending kindness will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Deborah was a beacon of warmth and generosity, always ready with a comforting word or a helping hand. Her lively personality brought joy to every gathering, her passion for games making her the heart of any group. Committed to her family, her love enriched the lives of each member and endowed them with cherished memories. Her jovial nature and sincere affection made every moment spent with her a pleasant one.

She leaves behind her beloved son, Joseph Shorter (Michelle), and two grandchildren, Devon Shorter and Haylee Shorter, along with many nieces and nephews. Their special bond exemplified the love and respect that Deborah cherished in her family relationships. Deborah's absence will be keenly felt, but her love will continue to live on through the lives of those she touched.

Deborah was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Ethel Shorter, brother Earl Shorter, sisters Nancy Murray, Betty Nichols, Hilda Caldwell and Mary Nichols.

Because of her love of life, the family would like to honor her with A Celebration of Life which will be held on November 23, 2024, 3:00 p.m. at 3515 Daniels Creek Road, Collinsville, VA. An occasion to commemorate Deborah's wonderful life, it will be a time for family and friends to gather, share stories, and remember the joyous times spent with Deborah. Please come with your favorite memory of her to share and favorite dish to share.  

As we mourn the loss of Deborah, we also celebrate a life lived with love, kindness and generosity. Deborah's legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends, serving as a comforting and inspiring memory in the days to come.
