Deborah's obituary
Deborah "Debbie" Mousolite passed away peacefully on October 23rd, 2025, at the age of 72, in Lakewood, Colorado. Surrounded by her family, Debbie was, fittingly, adorned in her beloved pearls—a signature touch that reflected her grace and style.
Debbie was born on March 18th, 1953, in St. Paul, Minnesota. The third of four daughters born to Dr. Peter Mousolite and Thelma Mousolite, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her oldest sister, Sandie Haffey.
Her childhood was spent in Wilmette, Illinois, where she attended New Trier High School, graduating in 1971. Debbie continued her academic journey at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where she was a proud member of Kappa Chi Omega from 1971 to 1974. The Rocky Mountains were calling to her, so Debbie moved to Greeley, Colorado, to attend the University of Northern Colorado and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education and Elementary Education in 1976.
After receiving her degree, Debbie decided Colorado was where she wanted to plant her roots, and in 1977 began her teaching career at Stott Elementary. She soon found her true calling at Vanderhoof Elementary, where she dedicated 32 years to teaching first and second grade. During her tenure, she organized delightful theatrical performances with her fellow educators and students. Debbie retired from teaching in 2011, leaving a legacy of kindness, creativity, and commitment to education.
Debbie is survived by her three children: Rielly (formerly Ashley), Nicholas, and Alexandra. She also leaves behind two loving sisters, Pamela and Linda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her life was enriched by a wide circle of friends—her "Angels," as she fondly called them—who cherished her dearly. Debbie was also an active and beloved member of the Greenwood Community Church, where her positive and loving spirit was a guiding light for many.
Beyond her dedication to teaching, Debbie found immense joy in gardening, traveling, and spending time outdoors. She had a special fondness for John Denver's music and enjoyed a good glass of white wine. Debbie was an adoring Mother, Sister, Aunt and friend who brought sunshine into the lives of those around her through her unwavering support and kindness.
Debbie’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
