Deborah's obituary

Deborah Jean McGee (Debbie) age 63, passed away Monday, June 30th, 2025, in Daytona Beach, Florida.

She was born on October 29th, 1961, in Buffalo, New York, daughter of Rose Longo Heppel, and Clarence Leo Heppel.

She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” McGee; their three children, Matthew McGee (Samuel Enright), Patrick McGee (Christina Maisano), Christopher McGee (Amanda Palmer); and seven grandchildren, Cullen, Tristan, Everleigh, Mason, Charlotte, Palmer, and Olivia.

Debbie was a force of nature and lived every day to the fullest. She was quick to smile, and always ready for a new adventure. As an avid hiker, there was no state park left unturned. While she adored the mountains and the outdoors, her heart was always with her family.

Debbie and Jim were married on January 8th, 1983, in Altamonte Springs, Florida at Annunciation Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, and loved her husband fiercely.

As a mother, their three boys were her pride and joy.

Becoming a grandmother was a blessing, and she spent every moment she could with her grandchildren.

Debbie connected with people and made friends wherever she was. Best friends, Kimmie Corder and Cindy Olinger remember her as a sister and a loyal friend.

When she wasn’t in the mountains, or with family, she enjoyed all things art. She was a multimedia artist who could always be seen in her chair with a sketchbook and a variety of pens or markers by her side. Her neon pink and green colors were a trademark in her paintings, drawings, and sketches.

She gravitated towards woodworking projects, becoming an expert in sanding, and oiling driftwood pieces.

Debbie also had a passion for collecting rocks and gemstones on her travels.

Living by the water in Florida gave her a deep appreciation and love of the ocean. She adopted the turtle as one of her symbols in life, and loved all things water.

She was a shining light in this life, and her family and friends will miss her dearly.
