Aunty Debbie visits us at home
2025, Accra
Aunty Debbie visits us at home — with Aunty Debbie and baby Debbie

I met Aunty Debbie through Aunty Mary (Mary Amoah) on a makeup appointment,  and since then I have been the only one she had allowed make her up.

She took me as a daughter and has always been in the picture till her demise. The support,  the advice and everything in between has been overwhelming; she was a rare gem, the most kindest soul.

I remember on one of our conversations during my pregnancy,  I told her I was praying to have a girl that I could name after her. She was excited and sent me almost everything about her name that day. God being so good, I had a girl who we named after her.

In this sudden loss, I take consolation in the fact that,  I will always remember you when I look at my daughter (she is  beginning to look like you already). It's so hard to live with the fact that you are no more, but I know you are in a better place. Thank you for everything. You will forever remain in our hearts Aunty Debbie.  May you find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord. Rest easy mummy.

Aunty Debbie is one the kindest people I have come cross! She is so thoughtful and caring as she derives joy from making those around her happy! Her Nigerian Inlaws the Akazues and the Nnamdis have several fond memories of her . Her calls and messages were always laced with love!

It baffles me why many good people do not stay so long! The lives you touched, the impact you made, the words of encouragement and prayers are things we will continually miss you for.

You will greatly be missed darling Aunty Debbie!

We pray the Good Lord to stand by the family at this time and wipe all tears away. Rest on, loving Aunty. We believe you have gone to a  better Place.

From Uche & Raymond Nnamdi (Akazue)

We think about you always

And we still talk about you

You will never be forgotten, never

We hold you close within our hearts

And that's where you will always remain

May your beautiful soul Rest in everlasting peace. You will live in my heart forever Aunty Debbie

A Tribute to My Dear Sister – Auntie Debbie
I honour the life and memory of a woman who was more than a sister to me — she was my friend, my confidante, my support system, and the quiet strength I often leaned on. Auntie Debbie, as she was affectionately known, was a rare gem. A woman of wisdom, of grace and of love.
She believed in me when no one else did. In times when I doubted myself, when the weight of life felt unbearable, she reminded me of my worth. She saw in me a strength I hadn’t yet recognized in myself. And because she believed, I began to believe too. That kind of faith she had in me is a gift I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
My maiden book Fractured Peace was dedicated to her.
Auntie Debbie taught me how to be calm in the midst of storms. She was my anchor, always reminding me to pause, breathe, and trust God’s process. She didn't just speak peace she lived it. Even when life gave her every reason to break down, she remained steady, soft spoken, and filled with quiet courage. Watching her was a lesson in grace under pressure.
She was the kind of woman who made others feel seen and heard. She gave without asking, loved without limits, Her presence in my life was a blessing, her absence now, a wound.
Losing her so suddenly is a pain I cannot explain. But I will honour her memory by living out the lessons she taught me to walk in grace, to believe in others, and to remain calm in the chaos.
Thank you, Auntie Debbie, for everything.
You may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
Rest well, my beautiful sister. I will love you always.
