Deborah Sue Barbazon
Deborah “Debbie” Barbazon, 65, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2023 surrounded by family and friends.
Debbie was born on August 26, 1957 in Burtonwood, England to Richard and Gloria Holcomb. Later her family relocated to Perry,Florida.
She worked as a jockey and traveled the country doing what she loved. Debbie made history when she became the first woman jockey to take the Shine Young Futurity at Evangeline Downs.
She had a love for horses, camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. She loved the Lord and was a testimony to His goodness. She was also an incredible grandmother.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mona Hart, and grandparents, Clifford and Sally Thomas. She is survived by her sons, Les “Bucky” and spouse Crystal, and Carl “Mike” and spouse Carla; grandchildren Les, Kayden, Kohlbin, Payton, Luca, London and Brock; siblings Bruce and Brian Holcomb. She also leaves behind tons of special friends.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the many staff at Cate’s House.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, starting at 11:00am at Perry First Church of God, 1915 US-221, Perry, FL 32347.
