I remember Debby often and sometimes laugh out loud when thinking of our adventures and her wonderful laugh. Enjoy her, Jesus!

Debby, I was thinking about you the other day. I was remembering when you came to Mexico to "give a gift" and that you did - a gift for Ed and me.  Your family was a delight and we were honored to have you prior to your Guatemala adventure. You were helpful, hopeful, heart-ful of love for us and them. You and your memory are gifts to us forever.
Dear Aakers, Debbie was on my heart today and so I tried to find her via the internet and found this lovely  but sad obituary.  Though its been a few years, your beautiful family has always been in my heart and there will remain along with  precious memories of the love you all shared.

Deb, Your life was always a fire burning for Jesus, for Don and for your children and grands.  It was a privilege to be impacted by your faith and your honesty.  Thank you for letting your full personality bloom in the light of the Lord you served.  I miss you sister,  Denise
Don and Ben, I just saw this and want to send our condolences. Our family has great memories of Debby during our time in the neighborhood. Every time I fix green chili chicken stew from Debby's recipe I think of her. Peace is with Debby and peace be with you.

Wow, so sorry to hear of the loss of Debbie. She was beautiful and had a beautiful spirit. Our condolences to the entire Aaker family. God bless all of you.
Dear Don, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I will always remember Debbie’s wonderful cooking, especially her bread and apple pies, but most of all I will remember with fondness all the family holidays we spent together. My condolences to you and Emily, Jared, Ben and Ian.

Dear Don and family - Thank you so much for the time you provided for us to all be together on zoom - it was so thoughtful of you, and so wonderful to see the familiar faces of so many we love from so long ago! There was a beautiful silent communication when Connie lifted her cup, Shari lifted hers, I lifted mine and we all smiled at the same time.

The songs and all the shared stories and thoughts were wonderful and uplifting, and though tears may be all our food for some time to come, it was wonderful to have the semblance of being together. You all are ever on my heart. God bless you, until we meet again on that beautiful shore!
With love, Jeannie
I would like to offer your family my deepest and most sincere condolences, and may her soul Rest In Peace.

From Pat Coughlin.
Looking back over the years that we had with Debbie, I am reminded of several things that have left lasting impressions with me.
First, Debbie was an instrument of God's Love.....pure and simple. This was an overwhelming attribute which she possessed and was always seemingly eager to pour it out on whomever was in range. Genuine. Also, however, Debbie was not one to simply inquire with a homily.....she seemed to always take it to a more personal level in sincerely wanting to know some of what was going on below the surface. Always fresh, never stale. The embodiment of Colossians 4:6. Love that works. A Truly Precious Child of God.
Debby was one of the most cheerful people I met as hippies. She was always the steady one. I admired her compassion for everyone. So very sorry for the broken hearts of her family. Wish I had stayed in the area longer to bask in that beautiful encouraging smile. See you at the Master’s feet, sweetie.

Don and Debby were part of our meal group at New Life Downtown. I remember them telling their story of how God brought them together and the amazing acts of grace that He accomplished through them. Debby was always cheerful and if there was a baby ( and there always was several) she would ask to hold them. Her love for God shone brightly through her. Her love of people and enthusiasm for Him, and life was so evident when you met her. Her partnership with Don was a beautiful example to behold.
We love you, Debby. We are so thankful to have known you for even a short time. We are so aware of the value and richness of your life. We know there was a beautiful embrace with the Savior and an enthusiastic, “Well done,” from Him, when you entered His Presence.
Debby did everything so well. She embraced whatever circumstance with gusto and excellence. I was always impressed with how much energy and drive she had and even though we lived in a fairly primitive fashion, her home was beautifully cared for. She rode horses, baked bread, made many friends, took photos. It seemed like she attacked every new adventure positively--maybe to others she had doubts, but I remember Debby for inner strength and faith. Even though we only lived close by for a short time, I always admired her through the years. My heart aches for you, Don, your beloved children and grandchildren. But that smile and legacy will live on--in your hearts and in the generations to come. She was your special gift that you gave back to the Lord. May God comfort you all at this difficult time.

Dear family of Debby Aker
Really Debby was lovely mother for Kurdish children, I remember when she was living in Shaqlqwa their family with wells of life serving Kurdish people to provide them with potable water and we were working with save the children/UK always asking us to serve vulnerable people to do as much as we can especially for children and women, She was so kind , I will pray for You Debby , asking God to send her to paradise .
Debby's love for Jesus only got brighter as she faded away physically. I loved visiting her at New Dawn before the lock-down. She walked many miles in that hallway and her beautiful face would beam as she repeatedly said "I love you!" All the staff loved her and other residents as well. She left us all enriched by her loving ways and unshakable faith in the Lord. To watch Don care for Debby was to observe most tender acts of devotion. Thank you for your friendship, Don and Debby, and for giving us such an excellent picture of true Love.

I celebrate and grieve with you all! Debby was such a special friend. We met at a Women's Retreat in Santa Fe and she had my heart within 15 minutes. We stayed in touch and then I moved to Colorado Springs and she became my best friend, although we would look at each other and say, "Why do we like each other so much? We are so different!" It was definitely the Lord. She prayed me through some very difficult times in my life and we interceded for others. Jesus was always her anchor. And Don. Their marriage was such a rare and vibrant thing - filled with love and servant-hood throughout.
You will always be in my heart, Debby Aaker and I pray blessings over your wonderful and cherished family.

My condolences to you. I knew Don and Debby from our days in Kurdistan. I also visited them at their home in Colorado Springs after they came back from there. She was a gracious hostess, and I have fond memories of our visits. May God be your Comforter during this challenging time! Bunches of love and blessings! In His Love, Janet
We salute our lifetime, all-time friend, Debby Aaker. Her life is an enduring testimony to the grace of God and to the power of love. From our first visit with Don and Debby we knew we had found an extraordinary couple. That was 50 years ago, in 1970, in the mountains of New Mexico. From that time, our paths were woven together. We were found by Jesus in the same season. We studied the Bible by kerosene lantern together in their cabin. And we arrived in Santa Fe as young families, learning to serve the Lord with all of our heart, soul, and strength. This woman showed us a heroic way to live. Her smile lit up our hearts. Her laugh was contagious. Her vitality, persistence, and dynamism were unforgettable.
We extend tender love and affection to Don, Emily, Jared, Ian, Ben, and their sweet families. How we wish we could be with you all! But unable to, from a “gates closed to travel” Israel—we ARE with you in heart. Hearts that are both broken and rejoicing—with you, always!
