Debora's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debora Kay Shields. Debora, 61, passed away on October 14, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL. A resident of Johnston City, IL, she was born on April 29, 1963, in Lapeer, Michigan.
In her spare time, Debora loved being with her grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent playing games like Boggle and Phase 10. Her laughter filled the room during family karaoke sessions with her kids.
Debora will be missed by her significant other, Daniel White; her children, Steven (Amanda) Winchell, Amanda McMahon, Rusty (Amanda) McMahon, Eric (Cassie) McMahon, and Alex McMahon, along with their families. She was the proud grandmother of Emerson Winchell, Sadie Carter, Keaton and Kastin Opitz, Hunter, Carlee, and Bennett McMahon, Wynston and Prestyn McMahon, and Matty McMahon.
Debora was the youngest of nine, with siblings Kenneth Shields, Nancy (Steve) Johnson, Kathy (Robert) Jackson, Dorothy (Dan) Lake, Bill (Denise) Shields, Yvonne (Marc) Schwengel, Thomas (Connie) Shields, and Roland Shields, and she leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Archie Irvin and Dora Belle Shields and Robert and Harriet Oliver; her parents, Kenneth Avery and Jean Marie Shields; and her brother, Kenneth.
A celebration of her life will be held on November 17, 2024, at Snow Family Homestead, 17771 East Fairfield Rd, Mount Vernon, IL, at 1:00 pm.
