Debby was a good friend to me. When we were in the 8th grade, she protected me from bullies.

A million years ago, (back in the days when 'Cool Kids' drove Bright Orange Cars with White Racing Stripes Down the Middle), Debby & 'Frankie' were that 'Super-Great-Got-It-All-Together-Couple' at Stevi Senior High that every weird, gawky 8th grader like me, (especially me), worshipped from afar. They were the stuff that teenage girls' dating dreams were made of.

Every girl wanted to be as pretty as Debby and as much loved as she obviously was by Frank. The perfect couple.

My 8th grade friends & I used to giggle & gossip about 'kissing sitings'. Deb & Frank between classes kissing, Deb & Frank at lunch kissing, Deb & Frank walking down the hall kissing! HOT gossip for sheltered teenage girls, back in the day, let me tell you!

I felt special somehow, because it was like they were 'mine'. I was proud of them, because everyone knew their love was real, their bond was real and as soon as this 'annoying school thing' was out of their way, they'd be married. . . . And they were!

A million years and a million memories later, no doubt that love has morphed into something deeper still.

Hold it close; be forever thankful for every loving, joyful moment shared. When darkness starts stealing your breath away, remember her dazzling smile, incredible warmth and endless capacity for love. In this way she can be with you as she was in the beginning, completely free of pain, full of love, laughter & joy; the lady we all cherish, your Beautiful Debby Ives.
