Deatrice's obituary

It was on a sunny spring day, June 8, 1958 that Deatrice Annette Johnson was born to Luville Smith and LaSalle Johnson.

Educated in the Los Angeles Unified School District, Deatrice attended Manchester Avenue Elementary , Bethune Junior High and John C. Fremont High. While in school she developed and maintained some long lasting friendships. Upon graduating from high school, Deatrice attended California State University at Long Beach.

Throughout her life Deatrice worked for various corporations. In 2000, Deatriche found her niche. She opened and ran her own child care business, Just Like Mommy. She loved working with children so much that she went back to school and received numerous certifications in early childhood education.

Reared in the church, Deatrice accepted Christ at an early age at the ST. Reed Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Abram Shorts. While a member of St. Reed, you could hear her soprano voice singing in the Junior choir, Young Adult choir and the Inspirational choir. After leaving St. Reed, Deatrice united with Faithful Central Bible Church and Zion Temple Community Church.

Deatrice was married to Joe Hatchett.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Joe and her father LaSalle.

Deatrice leaves to cherish her memory: Son, Justin (Bonnie);
Grandchildren, Brooklyn and Karter;Parents, George & Luville White and Maggie Johnson;Sisters; Roseland Holmes (Vince), Sherry Johnson-Stinnett, Iris Smith and Vicki Tucker (Charles);Brothers: Ernest Jackson and Darrell Johnson (Gene); Goddaughters, Shunese Coran, Vionce Jones and Michea Twyman and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
