Dean's obituary
Dean was born in Stockton, California as the 1st child of Kenneth and Barbara Taylor. Growing up in a neighborhood full of friends his age Dean enjoyed playing baseball, riding bikes, and building shelters for many different species of frogs and turtles.
In his 3rd grade autobiography he wrote about the “high lite’ of his summer, his first trip to
Yosemite National Park! “ We stayed at Camp Curry and hiked up to Vernal Falls. My brother and I fed deers raisins and watched with Dad the Firefalls at night!!!!” Dean spent many summers in the California’s High Sierra’s attending camps and as a teen working at Silver Lake Stockton Camp and Sugar Pine Point State Park.
He attended California State University, Fresno with a B.S in Biology (1970). The it was on to the University of California, Davis earning a M.S. (1974) in Botany, and PHD (1976) in Botany.
He was a man of many fine attributes, talents, and interests. His education and obsession with Botany lead him become a lecturer, researcher, educator, and mentor to all that shared in his passion.
Dean is survived by his son Troy William Taylor (Leah) of San Diego, the mother of his child Kathleen Teare, brother Robert Taylor (Barbara) of Stockton and sister Marit of Tiburon, nephews Patrick (Kendall) of Chandler Arizona, Robert (Nicole) and Great Niece, Kinsley of Stockton.
