Daddy was a great man, with a lot of humour. He was a peacemaker. He was a teacher, father and mentor. He will greatly be missed. For all your great counsel, they are boldly engraved in my heart. Rest on father

It was a great privilege meeting and working with Dr Olabisi. He was a great mentor and ever caring.
Even after leaving Highland Specialist Hospital since 2004, he still makes it a point of duty to call and ask after my family and the progress of everyone.
His greeting of "Pele" is usually deep and affectionate that I always look forward to it even on phone.. I can not remember him getting angry and even when you wronged him, his usual comment is "oo se daadaa o". In spite of his being a very senior doctor and an elder, Dr Olabisi was always asking for our opinion and is ever ready to follow our advice.
Dr Olabisi was a father indeed. He accommodated my wife and I in the hospital premises when we had issue with accommodation.
I pray for God's comfort upon us all and especially for mummy and all members of the immediate family.
Adieu Daddy
Till we meet to part no more

FAREWELL IN HONOUR OF DR. JOHN OLADIRAN OLABISI
AN AMBASSADOR OF CHRIST
Where should I start from? Oooooo ! My personal and family Doctor, Counsellor and friend. I wonder if I am hallucinating but it seems real. Dr. John Oladiran Olabisi is sleeping in the Lord. You are my Hero. I will remember you till eternity. Within four months, I lost my Nurse, Sarah Oladimeji and my personal Doctor, Dr. Diran Olabisi, SNR. God used you to save my life. For 8 months, I was lying critically ill in your clinic @ Yemetu, Ibadan. You supported me with prayers and the best treatments within your reach. You did everything to save my life. In the end, you personally, took me to UCH and followed up until I was discharged. To my surprise, you did not send any bill for the long treatment. You did everything pro bono. I can never forget you and your seeds. You are my hero, even as you are sleeping in the Lord. I recall the way you treated my driver, Idowu, when he was lying sick, he was between life and death. You assured me that you will do your best to save his life and you did. You operated my son, and for 8 hours that the operation lasted, you kept on assuring us that all will be well. There are lots more, you did, Dr. Olabisi. We were together for 6 years at the Medical Board of the Nigerian Baptist Convention where you were the Chairman. You would always plead that I should find time to attend the meeting. With you presiding, we established GORAH HEALTH CARE. We resolved the crisis @ BUTH which had lingered for years. With you presiding, we established the Baptist Medical Centre in Lagos and Omi Adio. You are my Hero. An epitome of humility and brain. You never looked down on people. I recalled the role you played when my church, CALVARYHILL Baptist church sought your help for medical outreach, you mobilized doctors and nurses and you personally came and spent time with us. You gave the church money several times to support the church construction. Dr. Olabisi, I will miss you. I recalled, calling you last year, 2020 in my new location when my wife had a blood clot. We did not understand the danger at hand. You asked me a few questions that late night. You immediately commanded me to take her to the nearest hospital. You kept on calling to follow up. My entire family would miss you. My wife and children also mourn your departure. You were good to us and several other people around us. I also remember the lady you operated twice without charging a dime. Just because she came from me. The staff of Baptist Building is missing you, sir. Rest on sir, till we meet again at the feet of Jesus. We love you sir and will forever miss you till we meet again.
SLEEP ON, MY HERO AND DOCTOR

To my dear, dear uncle Dr. Olabisi I will forever hold an abundance of love and respect. His loss is felt bitterly across the globe, of that I have no doubt.

A man to be admired for many reasons, his kindness, his wisdom, his honesty and his love for many. Having known my uncle and the Olabisi family since I was a young boy, I have memories stretching back decades, that exhibit the love and affection my uncle held for me and my family and the love and high regard we held him in.

Earliest memories are that of summer holidays visiting him, auntie and my cousins when they lived in Edinburgh, more recent times include my visits to Ibadan and hospitality uncle always showed to us, always willing to spend time with us, despite his busy schedule. Whenever he and auntie were visiting the UK, it was a pleasant surprise to learn of their coming to stay. Uncle was always interested in our wellbeing, both as a family and as individuals. This was perhaps never better exemplified than when my own late father was taken ill during a visit back home to Oyo state - uncle personally oversaw my father's medical treatment, and did not rest until sufficient recovery was achieved. For such acts and many more both large and small I will be eternally grateful.

Uncle's demeanour throughout life was one to admired and indeed his opinion on many subjects was one welcomed, even if I had not initially sought it on some occasions! I shall remember my dear uncle with the utmost fondest forever; I shall particularly cherish a rooftop meal at the Olabisi home that uncle warmly presided - it remains one of my favourite meals ever, uncle's warm, wide and witty words, the soundtrack to Ibadan skyline that all combined to enchant me.

Most of all I will always remember my uncle's laugh - I already regularly do - honest and true in all he did, we often smiled and laughed in each other's company as we reflected upon m/any issues of the day.

To my auntie and cousins and uncle's granchildren, I can but offer my deepest condolences, your loss dwarfs that of the rest us, and I wish you the eternal comfort of his love and wisdom still with you and guiding you in days, and indeed years to come.

Goodbye dear uncle, thank you for all you were to do many and still are. My love for you will not diminish - may you rest in blessed peace. It is well x

I have known Dr. John Oyediran for a long time from when he married my cousin. While expressing sadness over his untimely death, we take consolation in the life, humility and generosity, that characterised his never to be forgotten sojourn on this mortal Earth.

Dr. Olabisi was a well educated person, yet lived his life simply, always a generous giver. His ability to tap into the wisdom of God and offer comfort to troubled minds was a remarkable quality he had. His heart's yearning was to bring happiness to those he met. For me he is an example of what it means to be a Christian. There are many stones on this Earth, but only very few are precious and of great value... Dr. Olabisi was such a jewel.

Dear Dr. Olabisi, only God knows why He called you home at this time. Your going home is very painful and a great loss to us all. But we take comfort in the knowledge that the angels are rejoicing at your homecoming.

To the Olabisi family, we extend our sincerest condolences, and pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort you all, now and always.

Dr. Olabisi was an easy going, humble and modest man, and a role model, with a large and giving heart.

Good night and sleep on beloved.

I met Baba Olabisi first during my Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) residency posting at Highland Specialist Hospital about 20 years ago. He was a very kind, amiable, compassionate, generous and very funny teacher and was always willing to teach. Indeed he had many interesting methods of teaching. One story he told me about patient management and costing goes thus: One day, a patient had a foreign body in his nostril and came to his clinic. He billed the mother a certain amount. While they were still bargaining over the sum to be paid, a friend of the patient's mother, cried out, 'Iya ewa, omo yin ti sin!', meaning, 'Mother come, your child has sneezed!' Of course, that was how he lost out. The morale of the story was that once you give a bill to a patient, don't waste time with haggling, quickly accept whatever the patient can put down. He always gave discounts to people and even recently, he gave some of us, his mentees, an autographed copy of his life story. Baba always asked for my husband, Yinka, anytime he saw me. We know he's smiling now in God's presence. May God continue to comfort all his loved ones.

'Diran it has been very difficult for me to share this farewell to you , a loyal class mate in UI/UCH Ibadan 1971.We studied together, worshipped our Maker in honesty and sincerity. We formed great alliances to advocate for justice ,accountability and fairness to all. You were remarkable in responding to the needs of your family, friends, your patients and the communities you served. In Med .School following a table tennis game we would sit down to reflect on medical student politics ,planned strategies together with Segun Arigbatise of blessed memory to ensure a radiant democratic process prevailed in Alexander Brown Hall and the UI/UCH Medical Students Association. Your leadership skills were 'infectious' effective and transformational. For many years after Med School we all went our ways till we met again in Ghana at the West African College of Surgeons a few years ago. We had fun sharing our 'variegated' experiences in life after Ibadan, including the reasons you chose ENT as your specialty following your experience during your NYSC in the East. But we also talked about our class re-union in the future that could be a game changer. You and your team of our able and enthusiastic classmates in Nigeria, the UK and US were able to galvanize the group to a beautiful celebration in 2016 where a good number of us met. We had fun, 'palpable' reflections and honoured our teachers ( the living and others promoted to glory). In your usual manner, it was easy for you to call on me to be the MC while you directed the evening of memorable experience. This event was capped with a Praise worship at the Oritamefa Baptist Church through your help and guidance at very short notice to the clergy. As our able Vice-President you gave all to foster the bonds that bind our class -you and our Executive masterfully created some endowment for the UI/UCH Foundation ,Administration and Students. From what we know of you , you have been remarkable, hard working, transparent, with wide open hands and a smiling face that never fades. Your spirit of giving is all transcending, tireless and genuine. You were a 'master surgeon' giving your patients 'the breath of God' through your scapel, scope and blade. Your staff, colleagues, learners loved you and the communities you served will ever remember your
caring touch and empathy
We met briefly at the WACS Abuja in February 2020 and hoped we shall have another UCH76ers Celebration again ..... So you are now at rest with our God whom you served with your intellect, your skills, your grace and affection.
You are missed. Your photo waving us a Good bye is touching and appreciated here on earth till we meet in God's everlasting Kingdom.

We celebrate your life of full accomplishments and fulfilment. You left a lasting legacy in your beautiful family - your wife, children and grand children and the extended family including the children of God world-wide with whom you served.
May God's strength be with your family and us all who will miss you!
Rest!
Emmanuel Abara (Your Team Mate)

Femi, you have to improve yourself, you must do residency !!!! Those words hunted me daily at Ring Road State Hospital when Dr Olabisi was the CMD.... he didn’t give up, one day he sent for me and told me to come with him....shocked, he took me to CMD UCH..... that was the beginning of the story....!!!
Passionate mentor,, a vision oriented father, soft spoken, always showing genuine interest for others to succeed.
May GRACE abound to mummy and the entire family to bear this painful and irreplaceable loss.
The great RESURRECTION morning surely shall be an everlasting re-Union in HIM

Diran, as many of us who knew him professionally, and as a dear friend, called him, was a dedicated husband, father and son who was very humble, honest, hard working ENT surgeon with the Oyo State Health Council. He was very empathetic with his patients and always strived for excellence in his care of his patients. He was very loyal and reliable and as a friend, you could trust him with your life. He was also an officer of the Association of Medical & Dental Officers of Oyo State( AMDO ) and helped the association to achieve its goals. Diran will be greatly missed and difficult to replace. My wife, Lanre , myself, and my family send our condolences to his wife, Bola and all his children. May his Soul Rest in Peace

Highland Specialist Hospital was the first place I worked as a Medical Officer after NYSC, I owe almost everything I know in ENT to Oga, as I call him. You were a great teacher and boss. I worked with you till I had to leave to start residency training. You paid our salaries timely, never flipping into another month unpaid. Rest on Oga, you are sorely missed sir. May God Almighty comfort and strengthen your family now and always. May God preserve everything you left behind and grant you eternal rest. Sleep on sir till the resurrection morning.
His house and heart were always open to all. His family, friends far and near were beneficiaries of his large heart. He truly loved his community. He was simply amazing.
In response to "What act of kindness did you witness from Deacon Dr John Oyediran Olabisi?"
He was the most kind, gentle, selfless and accommodating person I ever knew. I miss him.
In response to "What made Deacon Dr John Oyediran Olabisi different from most people you know?"
I came to Ibadan to study for a Masters in Law. Dr. Olabisi who became friends with my parents as far back as when I was a student took me under his wing. He cared for me, accommodated me in his house and was a father to me for every day I spent in Ibadan.

He taught me kindness, gentleness and humility. Most of all he taught me live and selflessness. It's been tough writing anything about him cos words are not sufficient or effectiveness. Dr. Olabisi was extremely kind to me and prayed for me everyday I spoke to him.

I am extremely sad that he never lived for me to show him how much his kindness meant to me. I always hoped to show him some day as I figured we would always have time. I was wrong😞😞😞

Rest in peace Sir. Rest in peace man of peace. Rest in peace a Doctor and a gentleman.

To his lovely and kind wife, Ma! Please be consoled. This is hard but somehow God will help you get through this.

To all his kids and extended family, my condolences. My heart is with you all. I grieve deeply, I can only imagine how it must be for you all. Please be consoled and console Mummy. IT IS WELL.
Our beloved father in Oyo North (Oke - Ogun, why so soon?, you are a Champion, a legend, and a mighty man; a Champion is one who is never forgotten, a legend is one who is always remembered. We shall forever remember you for your good works. May your soul rest in perfect peace.
