In lieu of flowers

Please consider a contribution to John Oyediran Olabisi Memorial Fund.

Background

As many of you know, dad's life was marked by service and generosity. We invite you to join us in continuing his legacy by contributing to a fund for a foundation that will promote two causes that were close to dad's heart: promoting access to health and education for the less priviledged. While we work out the modalities of the foundation, below are two examples of the projects it will pursue.

1. Rural Health Center: In January 2020, on his 70th birthday, dad dedicated a new building for the Oba Olabisi Alabi Memorial Specialist Hospital in Iganna. His dream is for this to be a secondary health center that cares for referral cases from surrounding communities. Funds will be used for hospital equipment and other startup needs.

2. Scholarship Fund: After dad lost his father as a young boy, he fell into poverty and was turned away from school many times for lack of school fees. Given his experience, dad was a strong believer in the power of education to transform the lives of individuals and communities. He personally sponsored several individuals and we wish to continue this legacy annually by funding the higher education of one or more talented students who would otherwise be unable to pursue their educational aspirations. Funds will be used to set up an endowment for the scholarship.
