Deacon Dr John Oyediran Olabisi's obituary
Dr John Oyediran Olabisi, a surgeon, philanthropist, servant leader, patriot, loving husband, devoted father, a passionate lover of his people and the whole of humanity, an orator, and an ardent believer and faithful servant of God who passed unto glory on January 13, 2021.
A prince with Man:
Born into the royal household of his Royal Highness, Oba Alabi Olabisi, the Sabiganna of Iganna (r. 1940-1959), Dr John Oyediran Olabisi commenced an epic journey of life that would transform him to a prince of the Almighty God. His life’s journey from the town of Iganna, Oyo State, Nigeria, to the big city of Ibadan on an onward journey to notable cities in South West Nigeria on an onward journey to number of countries overseas. His academic brilliance was remarkable, and humility exemplary. After the completion of his medical degree (MBBs) in 1976, he travelled to Scotland where he qualified as an ENT Surgeon. Returning to Nigeria, he became a leading influence and trailblazer in the Nigerian Medical Association, particularly in the subfield of ENT. His private hospital served as medical center, teaching hospital and succor to the needy in times of distress. He published papers and articles in prestigious journals and delivered lectures and seminars as an advocate of safe hearing practices. Suffice to say that in his chosen profession, he traversed lands and seas impacting lives in every nation that he sojourned by the gracious hand of God.
A Prince with GOD:
In 1973, Dr Olabisi committed his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. He remained faithful until his passing unto glory. Through his ministry and that of his family, God has touched many lives. Born again child of God, he truly dedicated his life, means and resources to God’s service as a village evangelist, a preacher, and an ordained deacon at Oritamefa Baptist Church. His house is a preaching centre and everyone that slept a night would have had a good dose of the gospel. Many, as a result, became born again and still committed to God. His faith, his values, his service to the church and community bear witness that he indeed belonged to God’s Holy Nation and Royal Priesthood. Requiesce in Pace.
