David Worth Collins, 75, of Ararat, VA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his
family, on August 14, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC.
Born on April 1, 1950, at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, NC, David was the son
of the late Sarah Elizabeth Walker Collins and Hollingsworth Collins. He was also
preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Lynn Collins, and by his sisters,
Rebecca Collins Mauldin and Sara Ann Collins Powell.
David is survived by his children Matthew David Collins and Christopher Worth
Collins; daughters in law Katherine Collins and Rebecca Collins; his cherished
grandchildren Ethan, Lillian, Adalyn, and Liam Collins; and his sisters Barbara
Collins Golding, Johnnie Ruth Collins, and Mary Alice Collins. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.
After 35 years of dedicated service, David retired from Duke Power. In retirement,
he continued to serve others by volunteering with the Sheriff’s Department and
working as a driver for holiday tour buses. A true car enthusiast, David could often
be found enjoying the open road, spending time at the river with his dogs, and
lending a helping hand to anyone in need. His children will always remember his
lighthearted calls for “milk… coke…” and his unique way of making even ordinary
moments special.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital, a cause close to David’s heart.
