DAVID's obituary

David Brooks Winnett of Cle Elum, WA, known affectionately as Dave, passed away on July 26, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on September 16, 1943, in Bremerton, WA, he grew up in nearby Seattle and graduated from Blanchet High School in 1961. Shortly thereafter, Dave embarked on a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, enlisting in June 1961 and retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant in March 1988. His military tenure was marked by dedication and exemplary service, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, Dave continued to serve the military community through his work at The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA), where he was committed to the welfare of retired servicemen and women. His passion for helping fellow veterans remained a significant part of his life post-military.

Dave had a lifelong love of horses, a hobby that brought him great joy and relaxation. His connection with these majestic animals was a source of solace and provided countless cherished moments throughout his life.

Dave is survived by his wife Katherine Winnett; his children Kristina Winnett, Tiffany Pulliam and Anthony (Emma) Winnett; his grandchildren Elizabeth Pulliam and James Pulliam; his sister Rosalie Salldin and her children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Josephine Winnett.

Dave will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his commitment to his fellow service members, and his love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.”
