David's obituary
David “Davo" Williamson, 87, of Largo, FL passed away peacefully December 20, 2025.
David was born on June 22, 1938 to Fred and Emma Williamson in Methuen, MA. After graduating from Tenney High School, he went on to a typesetting trade school. He served as a Boatswains Mate Third Class in the United States Coast Guard Reserve. David was a loyal employee of the Lawrence Eagle Tribune; he started as a paperboy, then drove a delivery truck, and eventually worked in the typesetting composing room for over 40 years. He cherished Sally (Sugden) Williamson, his wife of 61 years and they raised two daughters together. David always had a smile and saw the good in everyone. He was a special person who never met a stranger, just a friend he hadn't met yet. David enjoyed hiking and traveling to places unknown, going the back roads and never the same way twice. Getting lost was an adventure. He loved gardening and sharing his bounty with his lovely Pleasant Circle neighbors. He had a gift of capturing beautiful memories through photography and videography. After retiring, he joined a bicycle club and “The Goobers” hiking group. Anyone who knew David knew he was always ready with a silly joke. He was nicknamed “Smiley” at Elison of Pinecrest Assisted Living. Dave enjoyed dancing at happy hour, adding a touch of whimsy with a beret and funny glasses. He was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He was crazy about his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his sister Norma Shaw of Groveland and brother Herbert Williamson of Newburyport. He is survived by his wife, Sally Williamson; his daughters, Lori Stuart and Beth Gonsalves; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests in lieu of flowers to consider donating to First Congregational Church Methuen, MA, where they served for many years. There will be a celebration of life with family and friends at a future date.
