I first met David and Carol more than 50 years ago when they were ministering together in Kelowna. Although I lived in Vancouver, their Kelowna home was one of my favourite go-to places in my days with PYPS (Presbyterian Young People's Society). I recall marriage counselling while camping and then Carol and Dave drove to St. Columba in Vancouver so that Dave could be one of the ministers at my wedding to Gerry. Dave and Carol were amazing role models for marriage, a welcoming home, a deep and abiding faith, love for family, commitment to helping the most vulnerable, and practical and compassionate service regardless of setting. Their influence on me as a young person helped in so many ways to shape the person that I've become - and for that, I'm very grateful. What a heartbreaking loss - to Dave's family and all those who knew him! However, his legacy will go on through the countless lives he touched and changed.

Very sorry to hear about David's passing. He was a very warm, caring and passionate pastor at Kerrisdale Presbyterian and was loved by many congregants, including my parents, Bob and Jean Reid. May the Lord's peace, grace and love be with all of the family as you grieve and celebrate a remarkable life well lived.

As a teen, Dave and Carol's ministry was foundational in building my Christian faith. Harvey came into my life through you. And we were blessed to reconnect during the 3 years Harvey and I were in Victoria. We are so sorry for your loss, but I know heaven's welcome bells rang loud and strong on January 1. God's blessing to you all as you walk through this difficult time.

David was a kind and generous soul who made everyone feel like family. He married my husband and I, and I always felt like his faith in our relationship provided us with the faith to continue on. I know that his family will miss him terribly. I send my love to them. I will remember David, his big smile and his big heart. ❤️

I have so many great memories, but some that stand out are going to church camp with the kids and getting the prize for getting up at night the most to use the facilities! David had such a great sense of humour. I remember many meals at the house in Kerrisdale, singing at church services and swimming at the Caldwells. David was always available when you needed to talk to someone. His warmth and faith were evident in everything he did. He cared so much for others, and his family was so important to him. David would often drive us home from church events and we often had wonderful chats. I sincerely wish that we had stayed in touch after the move to Crofton. David, you are now with your Lord, but you will always be here in our hearts.
