I miss David still. He had a good heart. We used to talk politics and would laugh about the stupid antics of some of the politicians. He had a great hearty laugh. He loved his daughters and his siblings very much.
I am saddened to hear about the loss of David. He had a heart of gold & loved telling stories about his family. His laugh is by far the best I've heard! When he visited us at Famous Toastery it was my goal to make him laugh because it just made my day! He will truly be missed ❤️

David IS the light. You knew always knew when he would sit down because you could hear his contagious laugh from a yard away. He was always thoughtful, kind and so so funny. I enjoyed talking to him every single time he would come in. There was always something to talk about whether is was his family or animals. I will miss and remember you forever. I’m so thankful and lucky to meet such a funny and witty soul.
So sorry to hear of David's passing. He would come into the restaurant all the time and was such a joy to talk to. Always joking about my hair color and my lifting weights. He will surely be missed, he was one of a kind
I no longer have photo images of this but I will never forget when David asked me to make a Cuddle Clone of Melia's cat. I asked him if he had lost his mind and he told me that no, "Melia would sleep better hugging the cat." I can't remember the cat's name now but I took pictures of the cat, chose a pose that I liked, applied the purchase to David's CC and hit send. Melia received this gift from her dad at the College of Charleston when she was a student there.
Melia, do you still have the cat? Melia, I hope you still have it:)
Reading these wonderful stories has been such a gift in remembering David. He was my new-ish brother-in-law when I was going through a change of careers. I was taking an advanced chemistry class— a hoop I needed to jump through to order to apply to graduate school. I was stuck on a problem due the next day and it was getting late. I remembered that while I knew David a successful business man, his training was as a chemist (it’s of course how he knew so much about pigments). I was desperate and called him, not knowing what to expect. He was not only very kind, and very willing to help but, without hesitation he knew exactly how to do the problem and explained it to me. In typical generous David fashion, he then offered to do all of my chemistry problems (or have a lifeguard do them all, I can’t remember), which I politely declined.

We’ll miss David’s wit, charm, kindness and generosity are so thankful we had the opportunity to know him and have him in the extended Guilfoyle family.

We send our deepest condolences,
Eileen Guilfoyle and David Moody
My favourite memory of David was when he called me when I was completing training for my first job and was working in Nashville for 3 months. He wanted to take me out for dinner. I was aware he did not live in Tennessee and asked if he was coming over on business. He laughed and said he wasn't and added 'how often is it my daughter's best friend from 3 years old is over ? I will fly over tomorrow evening to take you for dinner'. I was dumfounded that he was flying to a different state to take me to dinner and promptly called Olivia who told me to go to work and ask which was the best and most expensive restaurant in town, adding he wouldn't want to fly over and go to any old restaurant! We went to the 'Melting Pot' and I can recall to this day what we had AND that we were in the restaurant eating, drinking and chatting for over 4 hours. We reminisced about when Olivia and I were younger and he gave advice about careers. It was a very special evening and will always stay with me. I only wish we had taken photos.

Girls - I wish I could fly over and be with you. Sending you all the love in the world. Huge hugs. xxxx

David really liked my house, I think it reminded him of England. We had many nice dinners on the stone patio, including Sally and Judy when they visited from England. Good times.

What a page this is - so many photos and memories. Uncle David - the words on here say so much, describe you so well and remind us all that you will be missed by so many.
You were an inspiration and gave us so many memories - both here in the UK and when we visited you in the USA. We will miss you, thank you for everything and I am sure that your legacy will live on in many ways. With very fond memories, your niece Anna xxx
David was such a good friend. I will miss him very much. He really had a love of life and laughter. We would get together and talk politics and laugh at the ridiculous antics of the politicians. He was witty too. Also kind and generous. He loved his daughters til the ends of the earth, and he also had a love for animals too.
His favorite dog was a German shepherd, he would say Alsatian. He spoke fondly of the days in England when he walked to the pub with his dog, and he drank beer and his dog would eat chips under the table. He loved horses equally and spoke about Alicia as such an excellent rider, trainer and businesswoman.
He loved his siblings and visited them often In England. He spoke of them often and related tales of their childhood in the Caravan at the beach.
To all who knew him well, he was also quite the character. He could drive you crazy too, i.e., if his french fries weren't hot enough to burn his mouth, they went back to the kitchen!

I wish for peace through this healing process for his daughters, his siblings and extended family, and his many friends. He gave us love and many memories. Rest in peace David, you are loved. Kathy

I had the great pleasure of meeting you several times when you visited the family in UK, 1st time was in Cornwall. Your kindness and generosity shone through. You spoke so highly of your daughters and how proud you were of their achievements. I remember taking you to London with family and I walked you down Carnaby Street, you were so thrilled as you said as a lad you had always wanted to go there but never did, so I’m glad I helped in some way in achieving a teenage wish. Although I think I wore you out with the walking !! I have looked through all the lovely comments and photographs of you and it’s been an honour to learn more about you as a person. rest in peace David. Love Lynsey (wife of nephew Rob Shaw) x
