David's obituary
David graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1983 where he was on the varsity football team. He after attended Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). David was offered a full-ride scholarship to the University of California Berkeley which he turned down and decided to move to Texas. This decision is what led him to Dallas and met his future bride, Tina. They were married in February 26, 1994. David worked forty plus hours a week as finance manager at Bankston Nissan and started at UTA and received a BA in accounting and a masters in Finance of Science in Accounting all in 1996 with summa cum laude. He started his career with Deloitte & Touche accounting firm, then went to Robert Half Staffing as a recruiter. David was driven and started his own company, Edge Resources. David taught himself guitar and was an enthusiastic of all music, especially rock and most recently country. He enjoyed coaching and watching his son Cole play hockey, and coaching Hannah in soccer, and singing with Ava. He loved the Dallas Stars, and was a fanatic Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He attended Lake Pointe church in Rockwall and attending Bible study on Monday nights. David dearly loved his wife Tina of 27 years, his son Cole, and daughters Hannah and Ava. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
David is survived by his loving wife: Tina Covin Wengender; son: Cole Travis Wengender; daughters: Hannah Marie and Ava Nicole; mother: Judy Young Wengender of North Carolina; mother-in-law: Mary Covin Henley and close friend Jack Smith of Longview, TX; sister: Julie Bobersky and husband Steve of Washington, DC; sisters-in-law; Donna Clark and husband Richard, and Tami Covin Koesel of Longview, TX; nephews: Zack Bobersky, Steven Bobersky, Jaron Koesel and wife Kacey, Lane Koesel, and Trey Huffman and wife Ann; and nieces: Kari Hodges and husband Brent, and Misty Henson and husband Robert. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Norbert and Anne Young; and paternal grandparents: Henry and Elizabeth Wengender.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
