My name is Deena. I'm going to get right to it, so please bear with me. My father David had his left leg amputated above the knee this past Friday from complications related to Diabetes. He is also blind and has stage 5 kidney disease and he's home now on hospice experiencing total kidney failure, also from diabetes. I had him enrolled in the Hope Program Body Donation for Terminally Ill Patients by Science Care. I had been in touch with Science Care on the morning of April 7th. Their rep confirmed all of my dad's info and confirmed his acceptance into the body donation program, and that they would be emailing me the consent forms, etc and I should be on the lookout for their email. So I checked. No email. I frequently kept checking my email throughout the day. Nothing. So I gave them an extra day because of covid 19. Well, I received no email so I called them and was told that despite my dad being enrolled they're suspending their program, apparently right when I called. Then they claim that they tried to call me. But I had absolutely not one missed call, voicemail, email, text... Period. So I'm panicking. Freaking out! Because I thought everything was arranged and settled. The hospice nurse told me that his kidneys must've shut down because there is no more urine. And his blood pressure is 88/46 and that was yesterday's vitals. Hospice has told me that since he has become unresponsive and the low vitals that his passing is really close and could happen at any time. I just found out about 2 hours ago that they won't accept my dad's remains after saying they would. So I have a situation that if my dad passes right now, there is nothing in place to take care of his remains. And regrettably, I don't have the money to pay for his cremation.
