David's obituary

Rev. David W Adams of Sweet Home, Oregon was born May15th,1948 in San Diego, CA to his parents David and Marjorie Adams. Passed away on March 1, 2024 in Portland, Oregon.

He was a jack of all trades, from Army Vet to biker to logger to preacher. With a working knowledge of auto mechanics (enough to limp a vehicle along with bailing wire, some screws, and some duct tape/black electrical tape), a strong love for family and community, and an even stronger love for Christ. Loved to go Hiking, hunting and mushroom picking in the fall. There was seldom a week that went by that someone wasn't stopping by and being given a hot meal and if needed a dry place to stay for a bit. If he had it, he gave it...even if it wasn't something he had to spare. Affectionately called Papa Dave or Shumba by so many over the last twenty to thirty years. He touched so many lives, brought together many in love, and was always sharing God's unconditional love from coast to coast.

He was preceded by his parents Rev David and Mrs Marjorie Adams, sisters Marjorie Gurr and Patrecia Adams-Zedan, son Robert Hankins SR, and Granddaughter Savannah. Survived by his wife Cheryl Adams, brothers: Thomas Adams, Richard Duke-Adams, Samuel Adams and Charles Adams as well as his children: David Adams Jr, Casey and Brain Walsh, Christopher Adams, Eric and Michaela Hankins, Shawn and Lisa Hankins, Sara and Chris Jurgens, Cassandra Hankins, Devyn Linder-Adams, and 13 Grandchildren, and 4 Great GrandChildren.

He will be laid to rest in Willamette National Cemetery, and there will be a public service for him on May 18th, 2024 at 1pm Hope Church Sweet Home 890 Mountain View Rd, Sweet Home

"May the Father of Light pour out His grace on you

May you feel His hand in everything you do

And be strengthened by the things He brings you through

This is my prayer for you....

May His Spirit comfort you and make you strong

May He discipline you gently when you′re wrong

And in your heart may He give you a song

This is my prayer for you"
