David's obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our dear David Trunecek, a man of great intellect and heart, born on December 24, 1975 in Prague, Czech Republic to Marcela and Ivan Trunecek. David passed away into the heavenly realm on July 15, 2025, six months after being diagnosed with stage four cancer. David lived his life with unyielding dedication and sincerity, leaving behind a legacy deeply rooted in love, laughter, fellowship, Christian values, masculinity, and a biblical worldview.

David was deeply cherished by his devoted wife, Kate, whose love story is as beautiful as their journey together. His personality shone bright as a dedicated husband, loving father, a family man, beacon of truth, and a captivating storyteller. He was a lover of travel and exploration, a profound thinker, a man proud of his Czech heritage, and a God-fearing Christian. His legacy will inspire generations to be strong, courageous and to pave their own path.

David was a man of many accomplishments, and among them, his transition from a young Czech immigrant learning English at the age of 10 in New York City to becoming a successful senior advisor and investor on Wall Street. As a business man, he always made time for family, fun and travel. He never put work ahead of his family and was the best Father to his boy, Bohdan. David found great strength in his Christian faith, building a beautiful family with his wife Kate, and making a home in the Hills of Laguna Beach.

David's life lessons were as insightful as his accomplishments. He didn't put too much importance on the things of this World and would advise people to read the book of the Bible, Ecclesiastes. "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven" Ecclesiastes 3:1. David was a financial expert and an adept investor, who emphasized the importance of retirement planning for his clients to live a life to love.

David lived by the national motto of the Czech Republic, "Truth prevails" (Czech: Pravda vítězí), this was a principle he embraced sincerely. David's life was full of courage, faith, and truth. His spirit will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him.

A candlelight Christmas Eve memorial service, celebrating David's life & 50th Birthday, will be held on December 24th, 2025, at 7pm virtually from Laguna Beach, California. If you wish to come in person, please reach out to Kate, a reception will be at the house from 6pm. A subsequent commemoration and scattering of ashes will take place on May 15th, 2026, at 9:30am at Charles Bridge Calvary Statue, Karlův most, Prague, CZ. Followed by a reception at Lokál U Bílé kuželky, one of David's favorite Czech restaurants. In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to the "Prague, CZ - Charles Bridge Celebration of Life" fund at https://everloved.com/life-of….

We invite you to join us in honoring David's memory and celebrate a life truly well-lived!
