David's obituary

David Starr passed away suddenly on December 30, 2023.  He is survived by his three siblings, two nephews and three nieces whom he loved, and was loved by, dearly.  David was born in Kearny, NJ on October 21, 1963, son of Tom and Mary (Ronnie) Starr. David grew up in Belleville, NJ where he attended Belleville High school.  Some of Dave’s fondest memories were of playing baseball for Belleville High School. During his senior year in 1981 the Buccaneers won the Greater Newark Tournament Championship. Dave also played for the American Legion during this time. After high school Dave went on to attend Kean College where he continued to play Division III baseball. Along with being an excellent baseball player, Dave enjoyed golf.  He was most proud of his infamous hole in one golf game.

Dave was always happiest in the kitchen where he enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.  Most recently, for a family of wonderful friends at Wemrock Senior Living in Freehold where he lived for the past three years. Whether he was helping out at the local church or volunteering at the Freehold area Open Door, he derived great pleasure from caring for others. He touched many lives with his kindness and his compassion for people.

Dave will be remembered by his family and friends for having the most wonderful sense of humor and always having a smile on his face, no matter his troubles. We are sure Dave would like his memory to be a happy one; for the good old days, and the happy times when life was easy. Rest in Peace Dave, we love you.

Donations in Dave's name can be made to The Freehold Open Door program  at www.faopendoor.org.
