David's obituary

David Martin Starks, 79, of Joplin, MO died May 10, 2024 in his home.

He was born November 27,1943 in Joplin Missouri to Ivan and Ruth Starks. After graduating from Joplin High School in 1961 he attended Pittsburg State University graduating in 1965. He went on to receive a graduate degree in physics from the University of Missouri. He was employed for 29 years as an engineer with the Bendix and Allied Signal Corporations at the Kansas City facility of the United States Department of Energy. He returned to Joplin upon his retirement in 1997.

David was the family historian and photographer. He safeguarded many precious family heirlooms, records and photographs.

He was preceded in death by his father Ivan L. Starks and his mother Ruth Marie Martin Starks and is survived by his Aunt Mary Lou Starks of Joplin and cousins John Martin of Seneca, Kim Endicott of Bella Vista Arkansas and Christa Hoag of Joplin.

A celebration of life will be held on July 9th from 6-8pm at Southwest Missouri Bank, 4000 E 7th St., Joplin (Duquesne).

A short graveside service will be held at Ozark Memorial Cemetery at 10am on July 10th. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Ruth M Starks Memorial Scholarship at Pittsburg State University Office of Development.
