I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. When I had him in class in 7th grade, he was always so curious about how things worked--I'm not at all surprised that he was studying engineering. I could pick his hand writing out of 130 papers without a doubt! He always had a pretty serious demeanor, but he was one of the kids I could count on to chuckle when I made a joke that maybe went over some other kids' heads. I'm sure he is missed terribly and I wish his family and friends comfort in his memory.

The way he's sizing up those …
The way he's sizing up those blocks, looks like he already had the mind of a brilliant engineer.
Sending our deepest sympathies to your family during this difficult time. I will always remember the fun the boys had growing up together....the birthday parties, sleepovers, video games, the ridiculously outgrown costumes they wore to make funny home videos, David hiding in the most precarious places for whatever shenanigans they had going on at the moment. But most of all, I hold dear what a loyal friend he was to my son, Jonah, taking him on fishing excursions and keeping in touch with him over the years. David will be greatly missed by our family and is forever in our hearts.

We are deeply saddened to hear about David’s passing. I’ll always remember sitting next to him in most of our classes through middle and high school, due to our close last names. David had the most incredible handwriting, something I’ll never forget. He was also impressive in knowing the entire Star Wars language—a true testament to his unique personality. Above all, he was a kind and genuine person. Our thoughts and hearts are with his family during this difficult time.

With love,

Addie Sassani & Levin Sarver

David was in my platoon duirng basic training, E 2-48,  and was my bunkmate at reception when we first got to fort leonardwood. I remember being 18 years old and scared, but meeting David during that first night, i knew i could count on sticking beside him to go through the process of reception smoothly. He was a good solider that never caused problems and boosted morale all the time. Rest Easy my friend.

I am so deeply saddened by David’s untimely passing. I have such fond memories of him in 8th grade German class at Eyer: so bright and keenly intelligent with a quick, dry (often unexpected!) wit or quip. He drew the most amazing “promo“ poster, looked like an architectural drawing.

My deepest condolences to David‘s family, friends, and colleagues. May the Peace that passes our understanding hold, carry, and bless you.

My heart ,spirit and prayers go out to the family of my dear friend Stann the man. May 30th ,2020 during our time in service together in the hellcat 3rd platoon, a core memory i have with him was i called him up to see if he wanted to hang out and help me do a engine & transmission swap for my 2003 blue nissan 350z(he proceeded to show me that he had a home depot of tools in the back of his jetta,i had no clue) he looked at me smiled and jokes and said you called the right guy. He was passionate and always kept reminding me he wants to learn and that he very much appreciated that i invited him to help. Throughout our garage show lol as he like to joke about haha we had some of the best laughs together. When we ran into a problem he was always joking and saying this is why you should buy a jetta lol. Even when we would go out to the ranges, motorpool, blue room ,wherever he would always stand tall and soon as i had seen him it was laughs about how much we messed up on doing the swap because we bit off more than we can chew and let our friend aranjo take over. But all in all his smile and laugh will forever be in my heart and mind, along with his shadow every time i work on my car or any car, he was a great soldier, a great man , a great friend and even more a beautiful soul. May he rest in paradise and i know when we see each other again im definitely going to be in his circle ready to share how much he is missed and loved and ready to joke with him about all of the times we had and will continue to have in paradise. See you soon my guy .. Stann the man! All love brother! God bless.

Stann was an unforgettable person, with an unbeaten work ethic, and near absolute honestly, he was someone I admired, and someone who influenced who I am now.

Others have shared their pictures and memories of him, and it's nice to see that he was appreciated just as much by the rest of 3rd platoon, even if he stepped on some toes in the process. But that was part of who he was, he wasn't afraid to say what was on his mind, no matter who it was, which did get him into some minor trouble sometimes. But it also made him friends, and you could know that when he shared his opinion, he wasn't sugarcoating it and that he did it with good intentions, wanting to correct what he might've seen as needlessly stupid.

He will be sorely missed by those who knew him, but I hope the memories shared here help to cement the memory of who he was, and the positive impact he had on the world around him. I hope they've got a nice garage wherever you are now Stann, and hopefully someday I'll get to join you again.

Stann on top of the Crumb Ran…

Stann on top of the Crumb Range bunker, the first project where we worked together, and where we became friends.
Stann was one of the hardest working members of my platoon. He was a cornerstone for us and could be depended on to work hard, provide ingenuity, and to call us out when we were being ridiculous. He never stopped at the first obstacle and loved solving problems with his mind and his hands. I am saddened that he is gone, but I am very glad to have known him.
