I knew david stann in the military, while we were both stationed in Fort Knox Kentucky. Stann was a great person and he definitely loved his car. I remember helping him work on it on the weekends. He was always making sure it was in perfect condition.
As a friend and soldier Stann was always there and never shyed away from giving his opinion. It was always refreshing to hear his insight because regardless of the situation or who was around he would let us know what he thought. To many his comments may have been a bit too blunt but he never hid what he felt and thats what made him, who he is to a lot of us.
Stann arrived to our unit extremely quiet and to him self. But soon he Developed his own connections with each and everyone one of us from 19th engineer battalion 15th engineer company 3rd platoon hellcats.
I am extremely saddened by the news and wanted to provide my own experience with Stann. He was a great soldier, a great man, and a great friend. We always referred to him as Stann the man and thats how he'll be remembered.
Id made sure to post our picture after finishing the bunker. I know that day was one of the happiest for all of us in 3rd platoon. Cheers brother you live on through us all and I offer my deepest condolences to the family.

To say sorry for your lost would not justify the hurt your family is feeling. To say you will see them again makes it feel like an eternity of waiting. But knowing he is with God is the only solice that I can provide you. He will be missed by many and know he was loved by so many more.

Stann the man. You know it's tough to hear these kind of news, nor is it something you want to hear late at night. You were a man of very few words, but your overwhelming work ethic spoke volumes, and I can vouch for all of it. Okay maybe not a few, the constant complaints, the witty smart answers, or even the one ups of others. Like come on for the real ones, we know who you really are, but that's what made you Stann THE MAN. Sure we'd b***h and complain, excuse my language, but we know that the work is going to have to get done regardless. That's what made working with you enjoyable. Those years being in 3rd PLT were a headache, don't get me wrong here, but they're the best memories to have. Field Rotations to projects, like it was never ending, but we always put one foot forward and kept it moving. Stann you will always will be the ak loving, smart-ass, talkative, witty comeback master, annoying, 5'5", German engineering loving freak, Mr. always have something to say just to prove his point, hardworking guy. It's the annoying ones that really put a stamp in your memory that stands out even when they try not to. That's who you are, being with you those years you were in. Hey buddy, I know it's hard to say but, till Valhalla. We'll see each other again, someday. Just watch over us for now, forever rest in peace. David Stann The MF Man, The Legend.

This picture is one of the gatherings I had at my house that Stann was able to come to. He definitely did not want to be there but in the end he enjoyed his self. Stann and I both arrived at Fort Knox on the same day and he ended up being one of my first Soldiers when I became a team leader. We spent a lot of time together and getting to know each other and we would make fun of where we came from since I am from New Jersey and him being from Pennsylvania. Stann was a great guy and was very passionate about working on cars. Especially his VW Jetta which he said his father owned one and it was the best car to have because Germans made it lol. Stann was a dear friend of mine and will be truly missed.

Stann was the Man! I first met him when he arrived to Fort Knox assigned to our platoon. In various ways, he was always eager to go above and beyond when it came to the technicalities our duties. Rather if it was working on construction projects, or maintaining our vehicle maintenance. His intelligence captured us the most, but more importantly his positive demeanor to help others.
I used to always see him out in the barracks parking lot and we would always talk about fixing cars, or what's the newest toy (tool) out there. He would even give me crap about buying a Toyota lol then proceed to showcase his huge collection of tools in the back of his VW Jetta (which i was highly jealous of). In which I would respond, "how the heck did you fit that factory in that small little truck". He always had to "one up" on me with his tools lol, but I could see the passion in his eyes, through his voice. This wasn't a job to him, this wasn't an escape from others, this was his way of living! and he was always ready to help anyone around him. Stann was unique, hard driven, intellectual, and an all around great friend to have had. He has definitely impacted all of us from the Fort Knox 15th Engineering Construction Company, the Hell Cat platoon.
