David Allen Stagner (Dave) of Fairfield passed away peacefully at his home in Concord on June 24, 2023 at the age of 73, with his wife Leslie holding his hand.

Dave was born in Oroville, California to Pauline and Jack Stagner Sr. on 5/5/1950. Dave was raised in Fairfield and graduated from Armijo High school; later moving to Concord where he married the love of his life, Leslie Christine Stagner on June 8, 1984. Dave and Leslie spent years dancing the night away and spending time at the beach; such special moments that Leslie will cherish until they meet again.

Dave worked his entire life as a contractor, teaching his children the tricks of the trade. He was charismatic, witty, handsome and an overall class act. He love life, watching movies with his beloved family and baseball (Giants, of course). He never missed a softball game of his youngest son DJ’s, and even attended games in his final days. Dave was so proud of his children and loved telling stories about them; whether it was how DJ could hit more home runs than Babe Ruth, how Bret was fighter who never quit pursuing his dreams, or how Katie was the "toughest" girl he knew.

He is preceded in death by his parents Pauline Stagner, Jack Stagner Sr., his brother Jack Jr., granddaughter Bremy Belle, and nephew Matthew Richie.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Leslie Christine Stagner and his children, Bret (Amy) Katie (Michael) and David James “DJ”. His siblings, Jack Jr. Niarja, Susan, Zachary, Mark and Florence. Grandchildren, Joseph (Sujana), Lainie, Brogan, Eloise, Sadie and Grace, and several nephews and nieces.

The family would like send a special thank you to Sarah Ball who took care of Dave during the last 6 months of life. If it were not for Sarah and the team at Hospice of East Bay, Dave would have not been able to pass in the comfort of his own home, something that was extremely important to all of us.

At Dave’s request there will not be a funeral service.
