Obituary

David W. Staab

David William Staab passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years old.

Born in Pittsburgh on May 20, 1943, the son of the late Jerome L. and Edna M. Nagel-Staab, David grew up in the Arlington area of the city.

On September 18, 1965, he married the love of his life, Suzanne A. Yeager, and they resided for many years on Arlington Avenue at the old pharmacy once owned by Suzanne’s father.

Dave was a family man and outdoorsman, spending many summers camping at Pymatuning Lake and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He enjoyed being on the water and kept boats down on the rivers at Pittsburgh for many years, and also liked to fish, once catching a real hammerhead shark. He liked hunting with his brothers, bagging deer and game and spending time out in the woods.

Dave was in the US Army and then worked at this father’s business on Route 51. Talented in many fields, he lent his expertise in the HVAC industry and construction, working hard and discussing design plans and print formats for homes and buildings.

On the weekends, he always had the most fabulous toys for family fun, from model trains to snow mobiles to mini wave runners.

Later in life, he and Suzanne retired to the country where they enjoyed their dogs and feeding the birds.

Known for pranks that often got him into trouble, his engaging smile was quick and easy. Dave was a kind and gentle soul who brought light into everyone’s lives he touched, and he will be sadly missed by all those who had the honor of knowing him.

In addition to his wife Suzanne, Dave is survived by his daughter Michelle L. Staab-Mojta (Dale A. Mojta), and his son David E. Staab, his siblings, and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service is being held on Friday, April 29th, at 12:00pm noon, at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, 401 Curry Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15236. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Three Oaks Hospice, 3950 Brodhead Road, Monaca, PA, 15061.
