David's obituary
David was born in Norfolk, VA on December 17, 1944, where his father was stationed while in the Navy.
He spent his youth in the Ashland, Framingham, MA area. He graduated from Framingham South HS in 1962.
In 1966 he graduated, with a BA in Mechanical Engineering, from Worcester Poly Tech, Worcester, MA.
He spent most of his 45 year engineering career working as a Field Service Engineer with Combustion Engineering, Stone and Webster and Riley Stoker.
He had a passion for life and loved travel and food. He always laughed and commented on how lucky he was to have had the opportunity to see so many parts of this country, and the world, experiencing so many cultures on someone else’s nickel.
He was an avid, second generation, sailor. He owned many sailboats and was at his happiest enjoying the quiet tranquility of the sea.
He is preceded in death by his father, George F. Spencer and his mother, Mildred E. Spencer (née Wood)
David leaves behind a son, Brian Spencer, along with Brian’s significant other, Laura Langeluddecke both of Leipzig, Germany, a daughter, Holly Spencer Griffin and her husband Michael and 3, cherished and beloved, grandsons, Ryan, Sean and Liam Griffin all of Cumberland, RI.
Remaining also are David’s sister Diane Spencer Sullivan and her husband John of Attleboro MA, and his nephews, Jack, Jim and Kevin Sullivan, his former wife and friend Kathleen Spencer Keefe and her husband Edward, of Cumberland, RI.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
