David's obituary
David Richard Roof, 82, of Galena, Missouri passed away on July 29th, 2021, with his daughter, Cindy, by his side.
David was born on October 3rd, 1938 to Gordon and Dorothy Roof in the state of Iowa, but was raised by his grandmother Hattie. The two lived in Camp Yocum and ran the camp together until he graduated from Galena High School in 1957. He went on to join the Plumber and Pipe Fitters Union U.A. Local 447, in 1961 in Sacramento, California. He had two daughters, Cindy and Veronique (formerly Elizabeth). After returning to the cabin he loved in Camp Yocum, he retired in 2001 and spent his time going to Downstream Casino with his friend Roy, attending all of the monthly Galena alumni reunions with Inez and friends, sitting around a fire with his camp family while visiting, and playing poker at any game that was open. His day to day always included lunch at Donnie’s Diner in Branson West, Missouri, until he suffered a stroke in 2016. Dave’s wood piles were a work of art, and were kept more neat than most houses. After his stroke he moved in with his daughter, Cindy, and Son-in-Law, Jeff, and lived with them until he passed.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Hattie, his parents, Gordon and Dorothy, and his beloved little sister, Jenny.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy and her husband Jeff Jones from Galena, Missouri, their children, Zack, Brandelyn and her husband Joseph Borges and their children Gunnison and Canyon Borges, his daughter, Veronique and her husband Erik Zobel from California, their children, Colin, Danielle, and Lexi, his loving sister, Nancy Carr from California and younger brother Larry Roof in Galena.
